Once connected via USB 2.0, the camcorder automatically identifies the DVD burner and is used to control the burning process. The desired video clips are selected from a menu that appears on the camcorder's LCD, and with the push of a button they're transferred to a blank DVD that had been loaded into the JVC burner. One hour of video footage, which is about four gigabytes, takes approximately 45 minutes to burn to disc. Recordings are made using DVD-R/-RW discs.
The JVC CU-VD10 can also be connected to a Windows-based PC (Windows XP/2000SP4) for DVD burning and reading. When used with recommended DVD-R/-RW discs, it offers a write speed of up to 8x (4x RW), and a read speed of 8x (5x RW). It also offers a reading speed of 5x for DVD-ROM, and 10x for CD-R, CD-RW, and CD-ROM discs. The burner comes with Power 2 Go data writing software from Cyberlink for PC. Among its many advantages, recording directly to hard drive will give you the ability to quickly locate desired material, effortlessly delete unwanted video, and easily rearrange playback sequence.

We got this DVD share station as a wedding gift. My wife and I decided to not have a wedding lunch and keep the money to buy us a JVC Everio Hard Drive Camcorder so that we could have it for our honeymoon and first few years of our new life together. We took some video and burned a DVD with the share station with the DVD that came with the burner. Then we edited a video on our computer and tried to burn it. It didn't work. So, we went out and bought more burnable dvds. I just thought I had some faulty, cheap blank dvds, so we bought some nice sony DVD + RW discs. They didn't work. I got upset and checked reviews online, and all of them were pretty much bad saying that this burner didn't work. Well, the next day, we read the instructions and learned that there is a differance between DVD + R and DVD - R discs. We learned that the DVD + RWs and the DVD - RWs didn't work with the burner, and that it is picky on which brand you use, and you have to make sure that it it is a DVD - R formatted disc. JVC, Sony, TDK, and Verbatim DVD-R discs are the ones that work. Ever since we learned that, all of our dvds have burned perfectly and everything has been great. It was a pain in the butt figuring out what was wrong, but now that it is working, I am very impressed with this burner. I hope that people who have problems with theirs will read this review and try what I suggested before getting upset and returning it.
