narrow and long
When I bought the diaper bag, I thought the amazon product photo was taken from the side. Silly me. The picture shown shows the entire thing. It's about 6 inches wide. It would hold enough stuff for one newborn if you were at the grocery store or going for a short walk. No more. If that's what you're looking for it would probably be fine. I didn't try it on because it's being returned but I'll bet the thing is long enough that it would take up my entire torso if I wore it over my back (a narrow swath of my back from my shoulder almost to my belt line) and I'm a 6 foot guy.

Perfect sling diaper bag
This sling diaper bag is great. I have many shoulder diaper bags, but I don't like to carry them. They are too big and bulky to fit under the stroller, plus I wanted something that was hands free and easy. This was the perfect solution. <
>Although the bag looks small, you can fit a lot of things in the (6) various sized pockets. The pockets can fit anything from money, cell phone, keys, toys, pacifiers, wipes, small bottles, etc. <
>The bottle holder is insulated and is also removable. Since my twins are using sippy cups, I find this is a perfect fit for a bottled water. <
>I specifically selected this bag vs one of the other JJ Cole bags because of the inclusive changing pad. The pad is small in size, but serves its purpose. It is also easy to clean. <
>I have fit 5-6 #5 diapers in the largest (adjustable) pocket along with the changing pad and 2 onesies-it's the one with the big green flap. <

A very good diaper bag - new and improved from the JJ Cole Essentials model
My wife and I recently purchased this diaper bag for use with our newborn. We both like this bag quite a bit, which is quite a feat when you consider our divergent perspectives - this is our first child; I've not spent a lot of time around small kids, but my wife was a nanny for infants and toddlers for over ten years. She says it's the best diaper bag she's used, period. <

I think the picture used for the product description makes it hard to get a good idea of the scale size of the bag - it looked small to me in the pictures, but it is not (it's not humongous either). There's plenty of room for wipes, diapers, butt paste, change of clothes, etc. and some personal items for the carrier. However, you are not going to get a lot of extra room in here for items that some women bring along in their purses. On the other hand, for women who typically travel light (as my wife does), or for most guys, there is ample room for your stuff in addition to the kiddo's. <

Having handled or owned the Essentials version, I cannot say what the other differences may be, but I greatly appreciate and respect attention to detail and the effort to improve a good product.
