Customer Reviews of Invasion
Vinnie Vincet has INVADED! This debut CD of KISS ex-guitarist Vinnie Vincet is phenomenal. The Vinnie Vincent Invasion is a band that knows how to rock. This album is loud, heavy and really wild and out of this world. Vinnie's band consists of:
Vinnie Vincent (Lead Guitar, Vocals)
Dana Strum (Bass, Vocals)
Bobby Rock (Drums, Vocals)
Robert Fleischman (Lead Vocals)
This new band has got a lot of power and is full of raw energy that just blows your mind away. Vinnie's song writting on this CD proves that he is a master song writer. His guitar work is phenomenal and he put a lot of heart and soul into this album. The lead vocals by Robert Fleischman are loud and high-pithed. Strum and Rock did an excellent job on the riffs and the beats.
The opening track, "Boys Are Gonna Rock" is a monsterous rocking tune. This is a pure MASTERPIECE! Already, Vinnie has created an anthem for rock and roll. This guy is a genious! The song is heavy and the vocals are terrific. The next track, "Shoot You Full of Love" is outstanding. The vocals by Fleischman couldn't have been better. This is probably his best vocal works on this whole album. This tune just will just blow you away. If you jump a couple of tracks to "Animal", you'll get hooked on this album, literally. Vinnie Vincent proved what a great guitarist he truly is on this tune. The ending has an outstanding, out-of-this-world, phenomenal guitar solo by the master himself. The solo will really blow you away.
Jump a couple tracks to the anthem, "Do Ya Wanna Make Love?" This is an excellent tune provided with excellent lyrics. This is a good tune to play for your girlfriend if she likes heavy metal. The next track is the semi-ballad, "Back On The Streets." Vinnie Vincent even sings some lead vocals on this track with Fleischman. Vinnie had a decent voice in its own right. This is definitely one of the best tracks on this album. The last track "Invasion" is whoah-oh, fantastic. It's a very lengthy track also exceeding six minutes. The last minute of the song is really quite fascinating. Vinnie creates incoming missile sounds with his guitar which sounds really cool.
This whole album is fantastic. The songs I wrote about above are the best hits off of the album. The other songs are just excellent too. Vinnie Vincent proves how capable he is as a guitarist and as a song writer and shows how talented he really is. Buy this CD and let Vinnie Vincent INVADE your house!
Doesn't anyone know about Vinny's illegal speeding on this??
In case you hadn't heard, Vinny Vincent was accused (and in a sense convicted) of falsely speeding up the solos on this CD. From what I understand, they sped up the tape during his solos to make him appear much faster than he really is and to try to create an "Yngwie buzz" about him. If you listen to any of his KISS songs and any of Vinny's next CDs (which proves he was convicted), you will not hear ANY of the shredding that was on this CD. In addition, if you ever saw him live with KISS (which I did) or Invasion (and you can remember), he was not capable of playing like this CD. Lastly, watch him try to pull off the solo in the "Boyz Are Gonna Rock" video and you'll see his hands cannot keep up the music (which is probably why he played the solo with a microphone instead of a pick in the video).
Either way you slice it, he was never that good of a guitarist. PLUS he is/was as ugly as sin {sorry Vinny, no offense} ;>)
VVI Debut
A couple years after Vinnie Vincent recorded the LP 'Lick It Up' and was masked as the Egyptian Warrior for KISS, he and his group Invasion released this self-titled debut LP. As the sticker on the package notes, this is the "official remastered version", and I have to agree this cd sounds better and more clear than ever! Vinnie shreds his way through this above average hair-group album, and Robert Fleischman provides some killer vocals, especially on the opening track "Boyz Are Gonna Rock", the power ballad "No Substitute" and the interesting closing track "Invasion". "Do You Wanna Make Love" is fast paced dance-rock track, "Baby-O" is a bubble-gum pop meets hard rock track that has a catchy chorus, "Back On The Streets" is a bluesy rock ballad that features Robert and Vinnie sharing the lead vocals, and the rest of the album is just as tight. "I Wanna Be Your Victim" seems to be one of the best fan favorites. Even though their second and final LP 'All Systems Go' isn't as heavy as this one, I would recommend trying both albums to hear Vinnie doing what he does best.
