Customer Reviews of Introduction to Mandolin
Mixed Feelings I have both the book and the video. For a beginner, they are very helpful. The one flaw with the video are the tabs at the bottom of the screen to play along. They only show two measures and don't advance until the last note is played. By the time you read the new tabs, Bert is two or three notes into it. If you don't already have the notes partially memorized from the book, it is hard to keep up. If you already know the song, the tabs are irrelevent.
The book alone is great. The book and video work great together. Don't buy just the video alone.
Excellent starting point
For a beginner, like me, this video with the acompanying primer book is an outstanding method to learn from. It goes over the basics like tuning, grasping the pick, etc., but soon enough you're playing some nice tunes. The primer is written in tabulature as well as normal musical notation, making it all the easier to pick up quickly. I practice about 20 minutes per day and it has taken me about three months to get through and master the material. I now feel I have a good base to build on for further improvement. I highly recommend the video with the book.
60-MINUTE INTRODUCTION TO Mandolin video
I seen that video the 60-MINUTE INTRODUCTION TO Mandolin video and I saw Bert Casey on T. V.
I saw him on that video and I learned how to play the mandolin and would learn songs on that video.
It is a cool video and it reminds me of Rodeo Bloopers 1. the video.
