Customer Reviews of Introducing Patrice Michaels
Ahhh Patrice! I bought this album (I'm amused to say) not on Amazon, for I had no idea til just now that it was even available here (!), but at a funky music store at the MusicMart in Chicago (Patrice's native haunt, by the way, where people seem to appreciate her worth and talent). What a lovely voice! In a world where opera has its mainstream stars (think Three Tenors and Sarah Brightman, and little Ms. Church), how refreshing it is to hear a voice as pure as it is radiant. Truly a performing artist, she is no doubt best experienced live, but if she is better live than on this cd, she must be pretty darn impressive, don't you think? A supporter and promoter of more obscure yet very worthwhile vocal literature, Michaels here performs her seemingly trademark Lully and Argento, as well as many other wonderful pieces. I especially (as a vocalist) recommend the Argento-his cycles are lovely (most notably the composer-letter cycles, unfortunately but understandably not present here-she can't do it all!). I have seen Patrice in performance, in action at workshops, and love her recordings. I recommend this highly!
