Customer Reviews of Inside Man (Widescreen Edition)
Disappointing, given the cast. This movie had great potential. I'm not a big fan of Spike Lee. I think his movies sort of drag out and impose his political viewpoints other than just entertaining the audience. This movie is no different. In fact, I got to a certain point of the movie and turned it off. Reason being, it was boring to say the least. <

>It dragged, it dealt with stereo types and racial profiles, it just didn't entertain. I felt Spike Lee's message was becoming just like all his other movies. I admit, when I saw Spike Lee's name on the movie, I knew right there it would be much of the same. But, in all do fairness, I decided to give it a chance. I should've went with my first instinct. <

>The cast was fantastic, Clive Owen, Jodie Foster, Denzel Washington, these are "heavy-hitters" in the movies. Too bad the story didn't bring out their talents. <

>I would say to pass on this one. Only because it took too long to really tell the story. It needs to be edited to make it move a little more. Unless the Director believes that "editing" will stifle his creative vision. But, sometimes vision needs glasses in order to "focus" better.
Stunning
Not your typical heist movie - very intense and unpredictable. The fact that you cannot differentiate between the robbers and the hostages is brilliant. And the scene in which Owen's character instructs the police to focus their cameras on the second floor window was shocking and eerie.

>Foster, Owen, Washington, and Plummer are on the short list of actors I admire. Lee has not been one of my favorite directors, but I love this movie, especially his attention to detail. For example, the bank used to be a Fallout shelter - you can see the yellow and black sign as people go down the stairs to the basement. I really liked the camerawork in the beginning, with closeups of statues and signs. Interesting soundtrack too, beginning and ending with an exotic Indian song that alludes to the multiculturalism of the setting and cast.

>Unfortunately though, Lee is clearly obsessed with breasts. This detracts from the maturity of this movie. Watching males act how they typically do around breasts is pathetic and demeaning to women AND men. I would give this movie 4.5 stars if I could - sorry, I decided to round down instead of up.

>I used to work for a bank, which also had a fallout shelter in the basement, but was I never involved in a robbery (fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it). The few mistakes of this movie, and most bank robbery movies, occur during the vault scenes. The money is not supposed to be spread out on shelves, in plain view of whoever goes into the vault. It's really stored in steel lockers with separate combinations. So if robbers get inside the vault, they can't find the money right away. Sometimes they can't even get to the bulk bricks of cash, as they're often locked in a time vault - in order to be opened, half of the combination is set while setting a timer for 20 minutes. The vault can only be opened after exactly 20 minutes. Robbers generally wouldn't want to wait for that. This probably seems irrelevant to the movie because of what they were after, but it irritates me that most people imagine the money to be lying around, unprotected. Responsible banks wouldn't operate in that way. I realize this is just a movie, but give some credit to the bank for keeping the money properly protected. And give those security guards handguns.

>One more thing - the robbers have a German car, which clashes with some themes of the movie. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be ironic or just a coincidence.
Denzel says "Do it to me baby" yet again
This really was a great film with an excellent twist at the end. I guess it is to be expected of a Denzel movie since he always delivers a great performance.

>The movie centers around a bank robbery in which Denzel plays a detective trying to negotiate with the mastermind behind the hiest. As Denzel and the criminal go head to head you will stay on the edge of your seat and be suprised by the twists that occur.
