you haven't seen anything like this This is a great stuff.See some of the best Yugoslav actors in action.Great insight in generalised Yugoslav matcho man profile.See Rade Serbedjija before he became small role master in every new movie you see. It's great movie, you just have to watch it!
One of the best
Based on Dubravka Ugresic's wonderfully funny novella with the same title, "In the Jaws of Life" is one of my favorite ex-Yugoslav/Croatian films. There are actually two stories: one is a television series about the love-life (or lack thereof) of a very insecure and dowdy office worker named Stefica, while the other is about the writer/producer/director of the TV series whose personal life is equally troubled. Stefica lives with an old babbling know-it-all aunt and works with an attractive but rather crude co-worker who sets her up on several catastrophic and hilarious dates. The events in the TV series are a reflection and caricature of the producer's own emotional troubles, and the director very skillfully intertwines these two plot-lines. The characterizations are excellent, as they lampoon many aspects of society in Zagreb, Croatia and/or the former Yugoslavia in general (one of the most biting is the obnoxious wannabe Marxist literary critic who gives negative reviews to books he hasn't read). This movie also features performances by Rade Serbedzija and Mira Furlan (familiar to "Babylon 5" fans) in their prime. This is not just a good "former Yugoslav" film, but an all-around fanstastic and very funny film. See it by all means.
