Customer Reviews of I-O Display Virtual FX 2D to 3D Converter - 3D glasses
True 3D, it really works!! But could use some refining.... I had been very very sceptical about this item before buying it. I had visited alot of forums and read alot of reviews to see what others thought before trying it myself. When I first got it, the first thing I noticed was that it looks cheap and has poor design. The glasses will reveal the geek within (anyone who buys this either a geek or a parent). Well, being the geek I am, I tried several games and movies to test its quality. Nothing popped out of the screen like in an iMax theatre, but depth was added to the picture. At first I didn't really see the effect but now that I have had proper time to play with it I will say that it really works. There definately is a REAL SENSE OF 3D! I have played it alot with the game REZ for my Playstation 2, and it almost feels like this converter was MADE just for that game. TV and movies works very well with it too. Partical effects and simple shapes show up the best and really look 3D. Unfortunately the technology isn't perfect yet. The converter actually creates a small delay in the signal so some games play slightly slower than normal. Also everything seems darker and alittle blurrier (trust me, its not the setup, I was tweaking settings for quite some time between my TV and the converter). I have nice CRT TV which the converter is suppose to work best with. I think the device works well and is kinda fun, but I think its not worth the $135 that IO devices charges for it. I think that it is a neat device that neats to explored and refined. If they fixed the darkness and blurry problems, redesigned the look, and made the device work faster then this would undeniably be a must own for anyone who really enjoys multimedia.
Its OK for the price
First of all you need to play with buttons to get is right. As lot of people says, it doesn't convert 2D to 3D as it should, and you can't see 3D effects out of 2D movies or TV shows, it kind of take you in a view where it looks like you are watching it from a window without little 3D effects. For the Price I am happy because I got lot of 3D movies with it and it works on 3D movies, please note that not all 3D movies will work with these, only 3D movies that work with shutter glasses will work with those. Spykid and other movies will not work with these you need those paper glasses with those.

Nothing Eye-Popping About This
I bought this hoping to get the IMAX experience. I didn't expect perfection, but I did expect something better than this. For starters it's not 3D...more like 2D.5 because the images don't pop out of the screen as you would expect. If you're watch a 3D movie, yes it gives the movie more deminsion, and a somewhat 3D effect, but nothing comes out of the screen. As far as regular non-3D movies, which it promises to convert into 3D...what a waste! It adds almost nothing. I hoped it would work on the 3D versions of Shrek and Spy Kids, but it did not. And if you want this thing to have the ultimate home theater experience wouldn't you want it to work on a big screen TV? It doesn't. I give it 2 stars for a nice try, but the technology isn't there yet...maybe one day.
