Customer Reviews of Humane Pressure Point Self-Protection for Police, Firemen, and the Business Person
Excellent tape for beginners and advanced users Let me begin by stating the quality of this video. Mediocre at best. This tape was filmed on location during a seminar given to a group of police officers. The lighting was poor, the sound was poor and there was only one camera used. While George explained various points on the body in great detail, the camera failed to lock it's focus tight enough to understand the precise locations. Basically, the film quality compared to a home movie shot on location in someone's basement.
Personally, I feel for the price of $49.95, we should receive a studio quality reproduction. Instead, we view a film that looks as though it has been dubbed and dubbed again before it has been sold.
Now on to my review of the content of this film. Excellent! Within the two hour length of this seminar, I gained a great deal of knowledge and understanding about pressure points and the effect they can have on one's body. George explains the difference between pain and injury. Pressure point activation causes intense pain. However, the pain can be taken away almost as quickly as it was inflicted. (with a simple rub) For policemen restraining a suspect or taking down an assailant, there has always been a legal concern. Many times criminals are injured as a result of police action. With the effective use of pressure point techniques, the injury factor is almost always eliminated. (It's funny to think that a policemen could inflict the greatest amount of pain a person has ever felt, and during the trial, there will be NO EVIDENCE of injury)
Another interesting fact about this seminar is that only a select number of points are discussed. They include points on the arms that can be used to disarm a person safely. Also techniques to release a person's grip instantly. (for instance, a choke hold) Other points are used to inflict major pain into the person's body, allowing you to gain the advantage in any situation. By not overwhelming us with too many different points, we are better able to remember the ones we've learned.
There is a section on the tape that discusses the effects of drugs on a person's nerve receptors. In many situations a person high on PCP will not be effected by any strike or hold or even a bullet piercing the skin. However, there is a pressure point on the leg that will drop them like a sack of potatoes.
A section is devoted to arm holds and finger locks. Once again, a very excellent narrative on methods for activation of these points. Angle and direction is one of the most important things to remember when applying any of these holds. George goes into great detail explaining the anatomical mechanics of this.
Overall, I thought the tape was excellent with content. Great information that can be applied practically into every day life.
I feel the tape needs to be remade in a studio with better lighting and sound, multiple camera angles, better close-ups, and slow motion. When this is accomplished, George Dillman will have truly created a masterpiece.
Thanks for reading my review.
