Customer Reviews of Human Traffic
Shame on US distributor Im a Brit living in the USA, I bought this here because it reminds me of going wild at the end of the 90's - its as close to the experiece as I remember.
I have to say I am totally peved at the american version, they have cut 11 minutes from the film, it just doesn't gel together like the UK version. No wonder it was a flop. Its a shame that they think the Americans can't handle it or whatever the excuse was for the cuts. I have bought the british version to watch, and gave the US version away. (I'm lucky enough to own region free DVD and compatable TV)
It's about time Americans stopped thinking we all talk and act like we are from four weddings an a funeral.
Anyway, great Brit Flick, bad US version. Enough said.
Wicked but be warned
Human Traffic is an absolutely amazing film, I would definitely put it up there in my all time hall of fame type places. One of the best things about it is that the main characters are all real people, they're not glitzy Hollywood stars but people that you could really meet on a night out. Of course, that's not to say that they're nothing special as they're all people I'd like to know! Another of the best things is that you can really relate to this film if you've ever indulged. Everyone plays their parts perfectly, and I laughed my head off when one of my friends exclaimed that they even chew their gum "in that way". One word of warning though, the American version of the film has been slightly censored. This didn't really detract from my enjoyment of the movie, but is was a shame to see that some choice scenes had been cut. As I say though, don't let that put you off! It's still a wicked movie and it will have you grinning from ear to ear. "Reach for the lazers!"
Good if you're into the culture
This is not a great movie. It's pretty plotless and the director relies on weird tangents and scenarios going on in the characters' heads for half the movie. However, if you're into dance music culture in the UK, this is the movie for you. Lots of funny lines and memorable moments and great character development will leave you happy after seeing this one. Comparing it to Trainspotting is pretty unwarrented as the only similarity is that they happen to be British films with drugs playing a major role. The similarities, for the most part, end there. In addition, this movie won't blow you away or stand up to 10+ viewings as Trainspotting does. But if you like the main subject matter, you'll like it. If you couldn't care less about dance music, ecstacy culture, and the UK clubscene you won't get it. It's as simple as that.
