Customer Reviews of History Rings True: Red Sox Opening Day Ring Ceremony
86 Years In The Making! New England Sports Network (NESN) has produced another outstanding DVD. The bonus feature has interviews with the players before the rolling rally throughout Boston, celebrating their World Series victory. The best quote belongs to Manny Ramirez, in a classic Manny being Manny moment. "Everywhere I go, a lot of fans and a lot of people be telling me, oh, you make me so happy, you make the city so special for us. But I want to tell everybody that you're the guys who make us happy." <

>The Red Sox opening day Ring Ceremony was condensed into one hour on this DVD. Taking place on their home opener against the Yankees on April 11, 2005, it was one of the greatest days in the history of Fenway Park. Members of the Boston Pops and the Boston Symphony Orchestra provided the musical background, as the players and coaches received their World Series rings. A graphic provided information on each player. For example, "Derek Lowe became the first pitcher to win all three deciding games in one post-season." Watching Johnny Pesky get his ring, hugging all of the young players as he walked by them, was very moving. The highlight was watching Johnny Pesky and Carl Yastremski raise the 2004 World Championship Banner and watching it wave in the breeze. John Keats wrote that, "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." Now I know exactly what he meant!
