Customer Reviews of High Back Booster Seat
Nice but a little hard to install I purchased this car seat for my daughter that is 3. She is very tall for her age so I was happy to find out this would work for a child up to 100 lbs as most of the others I have found only go to 80 lbs. It seems to have a wider seat than the others also. I have not had a problem with the puzzle buckle system. Even when she has her big bulky winter coat on. I would suggest that you try it a couple of times before you put your child in it for the first time. My daughter is very happy with this seat. She likes the color design and the arm rests. I have had it in 2 different cars so far (2002 sedan and 2003 sports car) and it fit great in both. I like the way the seat belt is to be used if you are not using the 5 point harness. She weighs enough to just use the seat as a booster but she still fits nice in the harness. Now for the downside. I was unable to get it to fit tight enough with just using the seat bealt, you must use the top teather anchor. The top teather strap is very hard to adjust. You can't just pull on it to tighten it like her other brand of booster seat. You have to pull up the slack in it from the back and then pull it through. The LATCH system is also not that easy but easier than the top teather strap. Once you get all of this done it does fit snug though. The adjustment strap for the 5 point harness could be a little longer for those days you need to pile on the heavy winter clothing. The cup holder (which my daugher loves because it has a little flip top compartment to store things) can only be placed on one side of the seat. Where she sits in the car is on the wrong side for the cup holder so we can't use it because it won't fit. This seat also does not seem to have as much padding on the seat as some of the others but my daughter has not complained. All in all we are very happy with the seat so far and my daughter likes it and besides safety that is the most important thing.
wonderfuly pleased
We have two of these care seats we love them so much, one for our 2yrold and one for our 5yr old. Once you get the straps used to the slipery nes of the straps (do twist ocasionaly but are very easy to un twist) we have found that the car seat is wonderful. The kids have more head support than any other car seat that we have been able to find for sleeping. the cup holders work well also and fit in on both of our seats drivers and passengers sides. The material is wonderfully easy to wipe up (we have another set of eddie bauer cosco highbacks in a blue and black sueid ish material and they are so hard to clean and keep clean) my kids also love the fact that they have there own arm rests.
Far worse than expected...
When my 3 1/2 year old was ready to graduate to a booster type car seat, we moved him from the Britax Roundabout to the Eddie Bauer Highback. In addition to the 3 1/2 year old, we also have a 6 month old that has an infant seat in the center of the vehicle. Since my 6 month old is in the center where my older child used to sit, we have moved my 3 1/2 year old to the side behind the driver's seat. Warning to all Suburban, Yukon, and Tahoe owners who have their children sitting behind the driver's seat because the access for the third row seating behind the passenger...It is impossible to use the cup holder on the chair due to the cup holder being between the carseat and the door. Additionally, I was putting my child (3 1/2) into his seat when the center locking clip between his legs came out of the seat when I went to tighten the straps. Whether or not this is a common problem, I do not care. What I do care is about this locking clip coming out in a collision, which could have been just as easy. The straps do not tighten all the way and twist (which is common, I read) and the tether strap is a beating to tighten because it has to be re-threaded to tighten. I do not feel that it is as tight as the Britax by any means. We chose this seat as an alternative to the more expensive Britax but I will be going and purchasing the Britax again despite the expense. They are worth every penny and when it comes to the safety of my children, there is no dollar value to put on thier lives. Additionally, these problems were not operator error due to improper installation as I do always have a certified technician place these seats in my vehicle.
