Customer Reviews of Hiding Out
A very funny movie that needs to be rereleased! This is a great movie. Jon Cryer is a very funny actor. I have been trying to get this movie on video for a few years. Please try to get it rereleased as soon as possible!
The movie is great only because of Jon Cryer.
To begin with this a great movie I would have to say that it was funny. Great entertainment for everyone. Movie makers just don't make them like this anymore. if enough people have not complained yet for this movie to be brought back. Well, they need to. Starting with me. BRING IT BACK. Now, back to how great this movie is. I enjoyed the movie most beacause it was like many movies i've seen. It had something very different to what people normal seen. Untamed and unusual. Cryer was handsome and a gas. The best part was when Cryer and the girl were at the skate place. Truly, a moment. 3/30/99 age: 18
How Can You Not Like This Movie? Name from a Coffee Can?
I was really impressed with the HBO to Video now DVD. So hidden has this movie been from the spotlight that it I am impressed at how little press it has ever gotten. I own the video and will some day buy the DVD.
This movie takes you from the Boston Stock market and trainyards to an small outlying city where John Cryer hides out at his cousins high school. This is a great story with a rather plausible plot. There are some very funny scenes when Cryer, playing Max, has to explain why he knows so much for a high school senior.
As he faces up to the challenges of 'teen age' he becomes more liked by his 'peers' and gets volunteered to the be the Sr. Class President.
He is hiding out because he is a witness in a case against a mobster for trading issues that involved Cryer (Andrew Morenski) and his team. One of his associates gets bumped off by a hitman and Morenski has to run. And the hitman is relentless in his pursuit of Morenski.
There are some very touching scenes, a little romance and really an introduction to a talented Annabeth Gish. Cryer gets in the middle of all the high school antics and frustrations.
It is an amazing comparison between an adult who has become of age and facing death, but renewing his life as a 'youth.'
As a comedy I rate it a 5 out of 5.
As a romance I rate it a 4 out of 5.
As an action thriller I rate it a 4.5 out of 5.
There is a little language, some blood, a lot of action and a great story. Add this little gem to your DVD library and enjoy it from time to time with family and friends. So many will wonder where the movie came from and thank you for introducing them to it.
