The American Hi-5 is both of my son's favorite show on TV and on TLC. We never miss out any of its show. Hi-5 is a highly popular kid's show in Australia with 5 other young adults. They wanted to bring Hi-5 to North American so they formed the American Hi-5 which include Curtis, who is an accomplished actor on the stage, performing in the Broadway musical "Rent", Kimmee who has been on stage in "Miss Saigon" and in "Mama Mia", Karla, Jenn, and Shaun, who's mother is a well known Choreographer. Hi-5 caters to wide range of younger kids focusing on their cognitive skills and learning flares. The five have refreshing ideas for kids as they action sing the songs emphasizing on different areas of intelligence and bringing in awareness to the kid's world with:
*Language fun of stories, rhymes and games songs,
*Logical thinking and mathematical puzzles of shapes, mazes, patterns,
*Music fun with beat, rythym and melody,
*Body moves such as jumping, hopping and the like,
*Exploring emotional areas through stories to enhance social skills etc.
Educational based songs Hi-5 are lively singing sensation that you fall in love with all of the Fabulous Five as they not only have great voices but also expressions to match with. Shaun is lovable and so is Curtis especially some of the skits that he does do which includes and is not limited to Captain Puffy Pants, Jenn is fun and so is her friend Chats (short for Chatterbox), Kimmee and her friend Jup Jup are alot of fun, and Karla is wonderful in her make-believe world! Some of the songs are Ready or not (a song about Hide-and-seek), Robot #1, Five senses (touch, hearing, taste, smell and seeing), and So Many Animals are all great numbers for kids. It's merrier days again for adults who love kiddie music fun. Jump n Jive with the happy ole days and make the kids merrier floating them free to grow up - free from the stress and burden of education for a change, free from the big bad world as they sing and dance with these 5 young people.
Not only do they put on a great show on T.V. but they show the same energy in concert, if anyone was lucky enough to catch them while they were on tour this past Spring. They genuinely care about kids, their fans, and their fans parent's!!
Adults love it, too.
My husband and I took our two sons, ages 1 and 3 to the local mall to see Hi-5 perform after having watched them on tv every day for months. They were fantastic.
They gave out copies of their promo DVD and it is wonderful, just like the show. I can't wait to get the new DVDs.
This is one "kids" show that features Broadway-caliber performers singing songs that will stick with you in a way that is not annoying or silly like most kids' songs.
You Are Going To Love This
We've been watching Hi-5 on The Learning Channel and Discovery Kids for about a year, give or take. As a parent of two teenagers and a four year old, I can honestly say I've never seen anything quite like Hi5.
First of all, what an amazingly talented cast of actors/singers. And the songwriters have an uncanny knack of creating music that appeals to all age groups (adults and even teenagers!). Very, very hip.
Problem solving, Spatial and Language concepts, Art & Music and Physical Demonstration are recurring themes you'll see in each episode. But it's done in such an entertaining way that the kids don't even realize they are learning! A wonderful show to enrich their imaginations.
Very, very highly recommended! In fact, I would encourage you to check them out here first:
