Customer Reviews of Hewlett Packard Q8182AABA Hp Photosmart C6150 All-in-one
Most ridiculous printer ever! This printer is completely nuts. The photo quality is okay, but is SO noisy. It sounds like a machine gun is going off inside it, and it shakes. It also makes really weird loud noises right after it prints something. I just printed a document on fast draft b&w, and it seriously shot the paper 5 feet out of the printer. I am not even exaggerating. I had to pick it up off the floor. It's been like this since I got it. I would not recommend this printer to anyone. I've had much nicer and smoother running printers for less than the cost of this one.
Finally - an "All-in-One" Winner
I consider myself a fairly advanced computer user, having been a PC owner since getting my first Apple ][ in 1979. Since that time, I've followed the evolution of every computer technology around. I've been a digital photographer since getting a Nikon Coolpix 950 (1 MP), and a "home photo studio" operator since getting the original HP Photosmart printer. I am both an avid photographer and a demanding "home office" guy, and over the years I have strongly resisted seeking an all-in-one solution, because (a) the price was too high and (b) the products required too many concessions on one end or the other. The HP Photosmart C6150 has finally given me a way to keep printing great photos, while giving me a host of useful "home office" features ... all in one attractive and compact package.

>My primary requirement in a Photo printer is, of course, great looking prints. I've had 3 previous HP Photosmart printers, and 2 Epsons. I've generally preferred the output of the HP printers over the years, and I'm more than satisfied with the photo quality output of this printer. The Vivia ink system is supposedly more vibrant and long-lasting than the old HP inks, but truth be told, I saw very little difference in quality on a 4x6 print between the HP7960 and the C6150. The C6150 was noticeably more vibrant on 8x10, not to mention much faster.

>The scanning features are great. I'm not sure what the other reviewer was complaining about ... I made "copies" of a few professional prints I have and there was almost no difference whatsoever on 8x10 prints between the source photo and the copy. I was truly, truly amazed. Scanning to Photoshop was simple, and the scan jobs were much more accurate and detailed than what I was getting on my old (but reliable) Epson Perfection 1240U. The auto document feeder provides an easy (albeit fairly slow) way to scan documents up to 50 pages, and my test scans of several all text documents showed the copies to be top notch. Amazingly, the Vivia ink barely smudged when I got it "wet" - very little difference between this and a laser printer.

>All in all, I'm fairly impressed with the C6150 after a few days of use. For roughly $250, it's a great investment and a very powerful unit. It manages to meet the needs of home users, small businesses, and photo enthusiasts - not an easy task. Highly recommended.
Problem after problem
I purchased this printer at a local BJ's wholesale store. The instructions were clear and easy to read, so set up was a cinch. I immediately began printing wirelessly from my PC and from a memory card inserted directly into the printer. The quality was great and I was impressed with the machine.

>That is until I tried scanning or copying, which came out pitch black. After a long time on the phone with HP's support, I was told something was wrong with the mirrors and we could get a refurbished one sent to me. I declined and went back to BJ's and got a new one. I set that one up and discovered that the small color display didn't work on this one. I called HP again and they were unable to fix it and offered the same refurbished deal. Two brand new printers fresh out of the box that are both defective are too much for me. See you later, HP!
