Customer Reviews of Heavy Gear 2 (Jewel Case)
Good game, Kinda slow This is an excellent mecha game. However, the game's pre-storyline is somewhat unclear if you don't know the storyline of the first game. I have first-hand experience of that :). And to make it worse, the actual story that goes on in the game is progresses somewhat slowly.
But that's really the only fault I can think of. The Mecha selection is excellent, I'm guessing around a hundred different machines, of different styles and weapon configurations. On top of that, the scenario's in the player vs. computer mode are widely varied, from the little battle arena to the endless desert. One of the biggest differences between this and the MechWarrior series is the ability to fight (with a good degree of control) free-floating in space.
In my mind, all things considered, Heavy Gear 2 is the best of its kind.
Replay value is high!
Heavy Gear II is one of the few games that is as much fun to play after you have defeated the single player game. If you have a home network you can play with friends and family and enjoy. The quick action missions are single player and completely under your control. You can fight a single computer enemy or as many as fifty and you can give them better weapons. No other game of this type has as much to it.
The single player games are challenging and always different. The sound and graphics are top knotch even now that the game has been out for a while.
Take the time to learn how to play the game, the controls are challenging but like everything else they are customizable. I found it best using a Sidewinder Precision Pro, a mouse, and the keyboard. I have yet to get tired of this game and I bought it the week it came out!
MUCH Heavier Gear
HG2 has absoloutly got to be game of the year material. I'mnot sayin' Heavy Gear wasn't graet but compared to Heavy Hear 2 it's kid stuff. Once again the boys at Activision have given us a show for our eyes and a symphony of awesome music and effects for our ears. The fx and voices sound incredibly real you even hear bulets ping of your armor the music is so good I'm surprised a soundtrack hasn't been made, the gaming preasents new chalenges such as keeping stealthy to avoid enemys. The new weapons are also amazingly cool from chainguns to vibroblades. This ones a must for anyone!
