Customer Reviews of Hawking HKS102 2-Port Mini-KVM Switch
Solid product with mouse support problems Other than a mouse problem that I also had with a similar KVM switch device, this switch does everything I need it to. I have two PCs, one Windows XP and one Linux (Fedora Core 2), and the keystroke commands switch cleanly between the two. But even if that wasn't working, there is a button that switches between the PCs as well. My rather old Kensington Mouse-in-a-Box Scroll has a problem when connected through this switch, but I've experienced this problem with other KVM switches -- the pointer will move horizontally but not vertically (and yes, the problem goes away when the mouse is directly connected to one PC or the other, so it's really something about the switch). The mouse problem may go away with newer mouse models, but I don't know. It's not a huge problem for me, because I have a USB graphics tablet that I already use as a mouse on the Linux PC, so I just plug the mouse into the Windows PC and it fixes everything. I wish there were a way around the mouse problem, but other than that this switch works well, especially for the price.
