Customer Reviews of Harp Magazine
Stellar Magazine!! Harp is the best music magazine out there. The writing is top notch and I love the photography and design. I have spent more money than I care to mention on cd's I've read about in Harp and have NEVER been disapointed. I highly recommend this magazine to anyone who is as obsessed about music as me!
One of Indie Music's Best Publications!
I avoided even picking up Harp at the local Barnes & Noble for about a year cuz I assumed it was about, well, Harpists or at least Harmonicas. I worked in a mom & pops record store for nearly 10 years and have been performing my own music for nearly as long, and Harp Magazine (and to a lesser extent, Magnet) seems tailor-made for me. It covers all the guitar-based facets of rock (Indie rock, alt-country, new folk, Jangle-pop) that Gen Xers seem to listen to these days. Intelligent interviews, band-blurbs, reviews, and advertisments for nearly every genre that I care about; mainly all things not jazz, metal, rap, techno, and the crap that major-labels force feed the public. All the writing assumes you have some knowledge of music beyond Top-40 so it's not geared for the casual listener. If the size of your CD (or record)collection numbers 2 digits and/or you think Limp Bizkit is the bees knees, stick to reading Rolling Stone, Blender, or the inacurately entitled Alternative Press. Harp is for folks who love all music with substance and aren't necessarily hung up on one genre. Fr'instance, if you like Bluegrass and nothing else.
