Customer Reviews of Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man
Silly action movie but very entertaining !! Harley Davidson (Mickey Rourke) and Marlboro Man (Don Johnson) robbed an armored transport car to raise $2.5 million to save their friend's bar. Of course the robbery went bad and they have to fight for their lives. The action sequences are quite good. Three lovely actress (Chelsea Field, Tia Carrere, Vanessa Williams) have small roles. Too bad MGM didn't give 5.1 surround for this DVD as BOn Jovi's Wanted Dead or alive surely will sound fantantic in Dolby 5.1. The picture is good and no extra features beside the theatrical trailer. This movie is no masterpiece but worth your time. Director Simon Wincer usually make entertaining movie. The latest Crocodile Dundee is another example. Look out for his best movie coming out on DVD, Quigley Down Under starring Tom Selleck.
Yet another ignored modern classic.
Two ordinary, fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants drifters, a cowboy (Marlboro) and a leather-clad smarta** (Harley), team up with some old friends to help out an old man and his bar where they grew up. Harley comes up with a scheme to help old man, which backfires, and just momentarily turns their lives to hell. They don't get tougher, or smarter, or come up with some really great plan. They're just the same guys they always were. They just have to kill a few people to stay alive. "It's better to be dead and cool, than alive and uncool." It's not the biggest budget special effects movie, it's a little unbelieveable how little they get shot (just like every other action flic ever made), it's just a really fun movie to watch. Rent it or buy it (the TV version isn't as good, but I'll watch anyway), but just see it.
ride on!!!!!!!
simply put when i was 9 yrs old and heard that opening song "wanted dead or alive" while harley (mickey rourke) is burnin across the desert, i was a fan for life.... though now i wondered why they didn't pick ccr's "run thru the jungle" for the opening credits...
