Now with all due respect to Wes Jeans , I will explain. I am into the classic style of guitar blues. I was along with others following the train of thought that :
You can't play blues until you live, breathe and sweat life.

Yes, I was one of those people that thought the young bucks of blues couldn't impress me. I was wrong. I admit it.I have been retrained to the school of thought that, blues is something you are born with. It's in your soul. Age doesn't even matter.

Wes Jeans seemed to just appear, seemingly from out of nowhere. His bio (per his webpage) states he had only played a year before achieving second place out of 1500 entrants. In a Jimi Hendrix guitar competition at that. I don't think that was a fluke.

Each track on the album is a stand out one. Tracks that are especially dear to me are "Use What you got" where Wes let's women know that it's not always about your size, but rather your motion!! Also "Ridin' In The Moonlight" where Wes uses his voice and guitar to make you want to ride with daddy, and make a little love!

for the standout track which would have to be Track Eleven "Stratus" It is a blend (no they don't help out for the track) of Hendrix, SRV, B.B. King, and many other greats of blues. I literally cracked a smile and shed a tear as soon as I heard the opening riff. Now if that ain't true blues I don't know what is. It's not really a track that copies so much as showcases Wes' talent for slinging, and hanging with the greats.

Wes Jeans is going places, I have NO doubt about that. His extreme playing ability and endearing talent at a early age (with only a few years of professional playing, I might add) seem to indicate just a drop of his endless potential. With more and more people being turned onto his music daily, and his soul inspired performances, I have a feeling that Wes Jeans could very well be the next big blues thing!

Since his guitar can cry when you need to, and be upbeat when you are. It's this type of playing that has sold me on Wes. Of course, if you can't see him live like I did...There is always his album aptly titled "Hands On", cause you will want to get your Hands on this cd!

ANOTHER YOUNG STRAT SLINGER
Wes Jeans ia a young blues rocker from Texas who wisely recruited Al Green's bass player and drummer, John Williams and Lloyd Anderson as well as Albert King's former B3 player, Greg Redding to perform on this debut CD.

From the opening number it is obvious that Jeans was heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix as well as by fellow Texans, Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Freddie King. Each track mixes raw, highly energetic texas blues with Hendrix's style rock and a little memphis funk. In addition to his fine guitar playing, Jeans offers some able smokey and throaty vocals beyond his young age.

There are a couple of rough spots on the CD which are only noticable when comparing a particular tune with the same tune performed by a more seasoned artist. For example, compare "Drownin' on Dry Land" with the version performed by either Tab Benoit on the CD Nice & Warm or Albert King on the CD Hard Bargain. Both men perform their guitar solos and vocals appreciably smoother than Jeans.

Overall, however, this is a very good CD which deserves to be added to your collection.

No words can tell how incredible this kid is...but i will attempt...I saw Wes for the first time last night and he is absolutley amazing. He plays with hunger and desire. If you get the chance, check him out and tell your friends. By the way, he has a new CD on the way soon.
