Customer Reviews of Gunbuster, Vol. 3
Gunbuster Volume 3, it ends with a bang! With this final volume, we see the characters under go the most important development they've had yet, and the final battle between the human race and aliens is now set.
Noriko once again meets her school friend, but much time has past, and nothing is the same. The pain only gets bigger when she realizes much more may change at the end of the war. Kazumi tries to confront her emotions with Coach Ohta, and coming to grips with what will happen to him in the future. As time goes, the Earth Fleet marches to the center of the Milky Way, and they are escorting with them the Black Hole Bomb. If all goes well, the aliens will be whiped out for good. But is Noriko, Kazumi, and Jung willing to pay the ultimate price for victory? Will the Gunbuster keep Noriko and Kazumi alive?
This volume pushes the character development and drama to greatness. The emotion is shown with excellence, and the the action is great. The music is used to great effect, and the voices remain enjoyable. It's important to note, that the final episode is done in Black and White Letterbox format, or widescreen in a sense for VHS. Even with the lack of color in the final episode except for the last animated sequence, it doesn't stop the final volume from standing up in glory.
With this final volume, Gunbuster comes to a conclusion. It's so far sad that this OVA series hasn't been released on DVD, considering Manga has finally released "The Guyver" on a DVD already now. Why Gunbuster isn't on DVD yet, is beyond me, but here is hoping it is on DVD one day, as it deserves to be.
Gunbuster Volume 2, It gets better and better!
Gunbuster volume 2 adds more fuel to the fire that is making it so great!
Noriko is now on the completed Exelion and is heading into deep space, as a small fleet with the Exelion tries to locate the enemy. Noriko will run into problems with her partnership with Kazumi, and as a result, will befriend her first crush. However, tragedy does not wait for everyone. With hard lessons learned, and the battle now looking grim, Kouichiro "Coach" Ohta makes plans to complete the Gunbuster on the Exelion. Does Noriko have what it takes to pilot it and save the Exelion from destruction? New revelations to the enemy will also be discovered, as Noriko must face an enemy she has never seen.
The plot remains excellent and the Japanese voices remain solid, as well as the music. The animation has improved a little bit since the last volume as well. Seeing the Gunbuster in action as well is a treat to watch.
With this second volume done, we're down to the last explosive volume, leaving sitting in our seats waiting in anticipation.
a loving story
i have not watched the first vol. ofthe series but i believed is one of its best qualites. since im mostly a movie fan the paroddical aspect was totall lost to mi but the most enduring and important thing was not. the fact that this series just lik evangelyon was a fantastic represention of human love of friendship, of teen fears and also of teens achivetments amisdt all the fight the mecchas and the monster we recived from the hand of hideaki anno a tale of hope. he ends the last color episodie with more humanity than all of the other animes ive seen exception of course evagenlon.
