Customer Reviews of Gravis Destroyer PC Joystick 2-Button with Rotary Throttle
don't bother I got this on sale cheap, so thought I'd try it. And I used to have an old Gravis Sidewinder joystick that I absolutely loved. This Destroyer is not something I would bother using, as the handle feels loose, and precision shots (like trying to shoot a Tie Fighter) are difficult. If I had a choice of playing a space ship shooting game with a mouse or this joystick, I'd say I was better off with the mouse. The mouse would probably give me better control.
Should have been called "Self-Destroyer"
Here's a joystick to avoid, if you happen to come across one (it's been discontinued by the manufacturer). Despite a nice feel and good action, the Gravis Destroyer utterly failed the durability test. I burned through two of them in quick succession. With both joysticks, the internal mechanism snapped during game play, leaving the joystick handle hanging to one side. After that, the joysticks only worked up & down - no left/right movement was possible.

>The first Destroyer broke within the 14-day return period of the store where I bought it (not Amazon.com), and I got a free replacement. The second one lasted about a month, and the store wouldn't take it back. Since the manufacturer warranty was for one year, I tried to get a replacement directly from Gravis. However, their technical support told me, "Gravis no longer makes joysticks so we cannot replace the unit for you. If you have the orignal (sic) receipt from when you purchased your joystick and are able to scan it and attach it to this incident or are able to fax a copy of it to us, please provide the information below."

>Well, I did that... and never heard back from them! No refund, no replacement, nothing.

>Needless to say, I won't be buying any more Gravis products anytime soon. Faulty products are one thing, but for the manufacturer to disregard its own warranty is inexcusable.
