Customer Reviews of Graco Lovin Hug Easy Entry Open Top/Curved Frame Swing
So good so far. We found this swing in a Wal-Mart store for $80. We assembled it in 45 minutes. Later we discovered that this brand and model is shown in the DVD, "The Happiest Baby on the Block," by Dr. Harvey Karp. We have relied on the advice there, (especially "The 5 S's" <
>which quickly helps calm my granddaughter. <
>We use the lower speeds thus far, because some medical advice is to wait several weeks before putting baby in a mechanical swing. <
>The tray on our swing requires much force to lock closed, and the method of unlocking it seemed counterintuitive to me. <
>This swing lacks the handy "1-hand recline" feature. <
>I wish we had the option of AC power (plugged into wall for electricity)but the only AC-adaptable swing we found was unsuitabe: It wouldn't recline, or lacked a high speed. <
>Dr. Karp's advice calls for a swing with a fast speed (6-speed swings are probably OK), reclinability for young babies, ample padding under the body, including head support, and 3-point restraint straps. <
>The swing operated for 5 to 8 hours on 4 partially drained non-alkaline "D" cell batteries. We plan to buy rechargeable NiMH batteries & a charger for the long term, w/ alkaline batteries as a backup. <
>Check out, on Amazon (or at your local library), the book and DVD, "The Happiest Baby on the Block",(about $17 used, $26 new, on Amazon) and the 93-page booklet, "Nursing: The First Two Months" - 4th Rev. Ed., An excerpt from "The Nursing Mother's Companion", by Kathleen Huggins, R.N., M.S. (about $.02 used plus S/H on Amazon). My daughter didn't know about the "cross-over hold" for nursing, and was suffering much pain & some bleeding from nursing, until she read pages 4 to 8 in the booklet, which she received free. <
>If you're near a large-enough city, you'll find a large selection of swing at Babies 'R US. I would have checked out USA Baby & Child Space, but it closed at 3:00 pm on July 3, before I arrived. <
>In smaller cities, Target & WalMart might be OK. K-Mart, Sears & Sears Grand had almost nothing acceptable. Some mall-type department stores might be OK. I wish we'd planned ahead and ordered online/mail-order.
