Customer Reviews of Graco - Bedside Bassinet Deluxe - Saratoga
Our daughter loves it...some pros/cons Our daughter is now 4 1/2 months old and we've been using the bassinet since the day she was brought home. She loves it - she likes to watch the mobile and talk to the bears. Overall, we've been extremely happy with this product. I did give it four stars because of #1 below but I would definitely recommend this bassinet.
1. Setting it up was a bit of a pain and changing the batteries can be a pain too. You have to remove the mattress section to access the area to change the batteries. However, we used the music and mobile every day and the batteries lasted quite a while - about 2 to 2 1/2 months.
2. The fabric could have been softer. I noticed that all of the Saratoga fabric was a bit rough. The extra sheet that came with it (navy blue) was actually much softer than the Saratoga style.
3. The functions on the arm were great - light show (inside the arm where baby can watch it), the light, the vibrator, the mobile (with or without music). I noticed that some reviewers indicated that the arm was in the way when picking up/putting down baby - the arm can be rotated. Hold the arm near the base and rotate clockwise - it will rotate towards the head of bassinet. I agree that it would be great if the functions lasted longer - I usually have to push the mobile/music buttons twice.
4. Storage is fantastic - lots of space underneath and the side pocket is great for easy access during those 2am diaper changes.
5. There is the option to use wheels or convert to a rocker which is nice.
6. The sleeper option is good too. You can hook up an attachment that will hold the bassinet to the side of the bed and you can fold down one side for easy access to the baby.
7. I think the size is just right. Our daugher is 25 inches long and still has a bit of room. By the time she's too long, I think I'll be ready for her to go into her crib. :)
5 Stars Definitely Not Enough-
This bassinet was given to me as a shower gift and I knew I was going to love it!! I have the entire Saratoga line of baby merchandise from GRACO. The pattern is wonderful and I just love all the features that this product offers. The basket underneath is a real lifesaver. At times I have stored pampers, blankets, linen, & clothing in the basket underneath. My son loves the mobile and the vibration. The music and lights were also very entertaining for him as well. This product is fantastic. The location of the battery compartment and the placement of the mobile are just minor things that should not deter you from fully enjoying this product. My husband absolutely loves it and is really going to miss it when it's time for our son to move into his crib in a couple of months. Our baby is about 16 lbs and still sleeps very comfortably in this bassinet. At night I keep it right next to my side of the bed, which makes it easy for me to monitor him and reach for him if he wakes up. This is absolutely the best gift I have received. I am going to be sad too when my son no longer uses it.
Liked it a lot
We bought this bassinet for our fourth child, and have never had one before. Our previous babies always slept in the bed with us.
It is akward to put together. I put it together myself (at 7 months pregnant) and ended up putting a part on backwards and had to take half of it apart to turn it around. But that wasn't too bad.
Also, the batteries are difficult to replace, you have to remove the bottom of the bassinet from the inside, removing a screw that is hard to get in to begin with....but it's not THAT bad, it took awhile for the batteries to need replacing. I set it up in Feb 2004, our son wasn't born until June 2004, and we just now need to replace the batteries after 3 weeks of him using it and months of the kids playing with the buttons before that.
All in all, I would recommend it to others. We set it up ahead of time and got used to it being up agains the bed, so that didn't bother us. The week we tripped over it, the baby wasn't here yet. =)
