This Is My Chance To Say How I Feel
I first got a sample of Rhian Benson from a promo cd (think I got it at some club). Never heard of her before but was skeptical that it was just another singer trying to make a club hit. And when I listened to the promo I decided that the cd was a must have. Rhian Benson blends jazz elements with the contemporary R&B sound. The instrumentation is extremely enjoyable and relaxing. Rhian doesn't have the greatest voice but she can still sing. With a voice deeper than most singers folks may be turned off but that will be them missing out not me playa. While a few of the tracks are too experimental when she hits the spot she hits the spot...if you know what I mean. Sing To The Child, Words Hurt Too, and Say How I Feel are classic tracks with funky harmonies. The only problem with this cd is that towards the end it gets kinda slow & syrupy. They should have tried to mix up the tracklisting. Other than that minor detail this album is well worth having. 4 stars.

soothing music from a beautiful woman
after picking up this album only to put it back on several occasions,i finally picked it up last night,and boy am i ever glad i did.this is another wonderful collection of neo-classic soul.this young lady has been compared to sade,but that's an injustice,because while their styles are similar,her sound is unmistakeable.ever since the first time i heard "say how i feel",i've been blown away by rhian.when i saw the video "stealing my peace of mind"i knew that this was a collection i would have to invest in.this is candelight music,it's something i'll listen to to wind down at the end of a hectic day,or to calm my nerves when i'm angry.i wish rhian continued success,and i hope she'll continue to make good music for a long time.
