Customer Reviews of Glam
finally! this has been released domestically at an affordable price! For some time now I've refrained from purchasing this because of the exorbitant import price tag. I'm glad I waited. Not only did I save money but I picked this up hot on the heels of purchasing the rehashed EP collection 'rost pocks' and it plays like a brand new release, enough so to keep me satisfied until Jan and Andi graces us with something new.
'glam' apparently is the soundtrack to a movie of the same name, but it doesn't play like a soundtrack. It's a cohesive album. The third installment in what I call MoM's ambient trio: 'vulvaland', their first release which explored identical ambient territories as the orb; 'instrumentals' (until recently an LP only release like 'glam') which took the ambient atmospherics of 'vulvaland' and infused them with a healthy dose of MoM's trademark bleeps and melodies; and finally 'glam' a further extension of 'instrumentals'. Tracks are stripped down to their bare essentials leaving behind swirling atmospheres, melodic bleeps and deep dubby bass beats.
Disregard past reviews stating there are little or no beats on 'glam' or that this disc doesn't sound like any other MoM. Not true. Checkout the fuzzy bass and sheet metal beats of 'grindscore'; 'mood leck backlash' uses the same tinkling melodies found on 'gocard' from 'iaora tahiti'; 'flim' starts off with a wall of sonic noises, scratchy static and weird rumblings before fading into a drifty two minute downtempo groove; 'snap bar' explores familiar ambient trance territory as old school future sound of london and 'glim', the closer track, is actually a track that was previously released on MoM 'cache couer naif' EP. To say this doesn't sound like MoM obviously means you're not an actual fan of MoM. 'glam' is chock full of all of MoM trademark atmospheres, melodies, bleeps and beeps. You'll find many familiar sounds and beats from 'iaora tahiti' and 'instrumentals' throughout. 'glam' is sometimes eerie, highly atmospheric yet purely MoM. If you really liked 'vulvaland' or 'instrumentals' you'll definitely love this. Although not your typical MoM fare, it is a must have for all MoM fans.
