Customer Reviews of Ghost Ship
This is solid state Recalling a time when punk was just the right balance of bluster and sugar rush, The Sultans full length is the point of origin for the revitalized RFTC circa Group Sounds. No nonsense RAWK which fires on all cylinders. My actual rating is actually three and a half stars in light on the fantastic current RFTC release and the slight sameiness of some of the tracks. Admittedly this is sort of the point with the back to basics one take style. For any one who thinks rock needed to be saved in the first place. As a friend of mine said, they take a page from the book and the book is rock. No introspection just propulsion and catharsis.
Just Sick!
This must be the most underappreciated cd of 2001. All year everyone has been going on and on about how the White Stripes and the Strokes are gonna bring rock and roll back to the basics right? In the typical Speedo fashion, with no effort at all, he gets his friend on drums and ND on guitar and blasts out 13 tracks of the greatest, rawest rock and roll in years. The Sultans cd is simply sick. Just another example of how the RFTC family just destroys all other bands in their path...with no effort shown. This cd is a must for any RFTC fan (obviously) but also to everyone who thinks that the white stripes and the strokes are something special.
Scream if you want to go faster
If you want to know where the short songs,no fuss, full speed ahead rock n roll onslaught of the new Rocket from the Crypt Album (Group Sounds)came from check this out. Every song is excellent - fast, short and to the point. Even the gap between the songs is short. John Reis (Speeeedo!) who calls himself (correct that IS) Slasher and appears on the sleeve with a patch on, must have one of the most rock n roll voices around, the songs have variety and he sings like he means it even if he's telling someone that he's going to hold them down until their heart stops and their eyes pop. It's got the trademark rocket backing vocals and if you record it onto your walkman (twice on one side of a c90) and let the riffs and choruses drive you as you ride your bike to work, i swear you'll get there faster.
