>I will tell you honestly they are a good quality product that can outperform many competitors, however their service and support is severly lacking. You do not have to just take my word for it. You can look through months of threads of angry users on the Gainward forums here: http://forum.gainward.de/viewforum.php?f=5, but I will summarize the story below. This is not just my story, but the story of dozens of Gainward users who have discussed these events. <
> <
>Near the end of 2004 Gainward split into two companies. Because of the turmoil, starting in 2005 it became extremely difficult to get an RMA number for warranty service. Neither the Taiwan or European offices responded to many requests sent over the period of months. Personally, I sent dozens of separate requests over their website, directly through email, and on their forums. Dozens of requests between January 2005 and June 2005, with not the slightest bit of acknowledgement. <
> <
>Again, my story is not unique. I have directly communicated with dozens of other people who had similar or identical experiences, all of whom are now holding a dead video card that is still covered under the warranty the card came with, but nobody will respond to warranty requests. <

>In June 2005, the Europe office of Gainward made an official notice that, as of April 2005, if you are outside of Europe they will not help you. Non-Europeans must obtain warranty service through the Taiwan office. However, the Taiwan office is closed, emails to them are returned, and it is not possible to get warranty service through them. Gainward Europe is very aware of this, but they choose not to help Non-Europeans. <

>In numerous cases, we have sent warranty requests since January. So, from January to April they ignored our requests, then they suddenly come out and say they are not obligated to help us. Again, you dont have to take my word for it you can visit the forums of Gainward yourself. <

>European warranty requests are slightly better. At least they get a response but there are many documented cases where their card was in RMA service for over SIX MONTHS before being returned. This is also unacceptable. <
> <
>So ask yourself: are you willing to buy an expensive, high-end video card knowing that if it is faulty it may take you many months to get a replacement, or knowing they may choose to drop support for your area as well, telling you that it is the responsibility of an out of business company to replace your defective product? <

>Contact an Nvidia PR director if this has happened to you. Nvidia.com endorses Gainward and I'm sure they wouldn't want this to reflect on their reputation. Email "bburke AT nvidia DOT com".
