The movie was great I watch it over and again. However it made a major deviation from the book by W.J. Stuart (ASIN: 0374424454) also written in 1956. Did you notice in the movie that the animals were all contemporary? However, they were supposed to have been brought there from earth before man existed. The book shows that the Krell were in the process of creating LIFE with their machine, Morbius was doing the same. He created what he remembered the animals looked like. However, when a monkey was accidentally run over by the tractor, its innards were not correct or complete. Yes, the monster was the same but the purpose of the Krell and Morbius were modified for the film.

Well it turns out that between "Forbidden Planet" and the TV "Lost in Space" series (which he was on a few programs) he made this movie. I figure he may have been hard up for lube oil. But it is a fun movie that is geared mostly for the youth.
A scientist not paying much attention to his son except to keeping him out of trouble and occupied inadvertently creates the right mix (boy, and robot from the future) to insight a supercomputer (precursor to Colossus) to have designs on the world. Who are the good people and who is the bad? Keep in mind that it is hard for supercomputers to ware hats (black or white) or robots to get hurt by artillery. I feel that invisibility will be needed for the job.
