Customer Reviews of Football Mogul 2003
Disappointing but fun I received Football 2003 as a throw in with Baseball Mogul 2004 and made the mistake of playing Baseball 2004 1st. A lot of the features and enhancements that made Baseball 2004 so enjoyable appeared to be in Football 2003 but simply did not work. I agree with the assessment that it is buggy because post season awards and cumulative stats were definitely missing, I guess it would be good for those with Alzheimers. I loved the Football Mogul 1998 and was hoping for the quantam leap especially after playing Baseball but it didn't happen. Next year will be a crucial version as to the improvements which will decide future purchases.
AWFUL
IT WONT LET YOU DO ANYTHING BUT SIT AROUND AND WATCH! IF YOURE LOOKING FOR THE BEST THEN GET NCAA 2K3 OR NFL FEVER! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ANY MOGUL GAME AT ALL!
Enormous potential, but buggy
Football Mogul 2003 is a little bit disappointing. On the surface, the game has everything you could ask for in a text-based purely statistical football game -- a complex, college draft, hall of fame, contract negotiations, trades and so on. This isn't a game for joystick jockeys, but for those who are more into general manager stuff -- building a winner. You manage ticket prices and so on.
I can see that this will one day -- like Baseball Mogul -- be a great text game. However, I can not recommend the present version. It is very buggy and skimpy on features. After a few years, your stats do not reset but just keep accumulating (this usually happens in 2009, although it happened for me in 2005). There are no headlines or newspapers, no end of season awards, the league leaders board is horrendous -- although that is similar to Baseball Mogul. The good news is that unlike other software companies, mogulsports is working to improve it, even posting unofficial patches (although these frequently create more problems than they solve). So 2004 or beyond should be a great game.
It's fun to mess with and a few iterations down the road, it will be great. But don't bother with this version.
