Customer Reviews of Fold-Down Bed Rail - Elmo
Love this Elmo bed rail! I have 2 bedrails on my son's bed,.. as it is positioned in a spot next to a window & I think it is safer with a rail on each side.
We originally bought a Safety 1st bed rail for one side & then decided to get the 2nd one. We chose the Elmo design & our son LOVES it! Our son is 2 years old & all we have to say at bed time is "Lay down next to Elmo" and he is pleased as punch to hop into bed! It makes it easy!!!
I have had very positive results with both of our bed rails. I am surprised to read so many negative comments from parents using these portable bed rails. ( All kinds ) My son has positioned himself the long way in his bed while sleeping & his head & feet press aginst the rails & they have never come out from under the mattress or caused a problem. We are always in the next room anyway..just in case there was a problem. My son weighs 42 pounds & is VERY strong ~ he has never removed these from the bed. Ever. In my opinion, if you put a child in a regular sized bed- they should be old enough to explain to them that they are not supposed to tug at the rails. If they are not old enought to get that concept, then they are not old enough to be in a regular sized bed. ????
I recommend this bed rail strongly. Every child loves Elmo! You can't go wrong!!
A Great Product
My oldest daughter, who is now 4 loved to go to sleep next to Elmo. We placed a twin mattress on the floor to begin with, but she kept rolling off it. This rail kept her on the mattress and, as her climbing abilities grew, we gradually raised the bed by putting first the box springs and then eventually the whole bed with rails. Elmo grew with her as she did and everyone got a good nights rest. My son however, is a bit more rambunctious. We had to stop using it the day he decided to climb over it. The rail held up very well, but his climbing skills didn't. Fortunately, he was on a mattress on the floor and not a whole bed, so he didn't fall far. We decided he'd climb any rail, so we never used it again with him. We still have it in reserve for my 17 mos old daughter. She has graduated to the box spring and mattress and so far hasn't fallen off, but Elmo is ready if he is needed and we are glad to have him.
There is no perfect solution!
I have read many reviews while trying to decide what to buy, and I think what many people are fogetting is that there is no foolproof way to keep your child from harm! I purchased this bed rail as a preventative measure, but realize that he still might fall out of bed just like I have before. Did any of us have bed rails when we were kids? I know I sure didn't! I think I only fell out of bed twice in my life, and here I am (granted, I'm a little crazy!). It seems sturdy enough to hold my son in bed without getting trapped, and I think some people are forgetting that this isn't supposed to be used on a bed that doesn't have a standard mattress AND box spring (i.e. a toddler bed). Good luck with your decision, and sweet dreams!
