Customer Reviews of Fisher-Price Deluxe Auto Mirror With Mirror & Lights
Good quality mirror, but is a bit big & can obstruct view As far as auto mirrors go, this one has been quite good for us. Granted, we had no problems installing it *solidly* in our car -- unlike other reviewers. (We use this in a Subaru Outback on the middle headrest of the back seat. It fits great in our car and is quite secure -- First, there is an opening for the headrest to go through, wide straps with velcro tabs that secure the unit around a headrest, and finally there is a clip that hooks from the headrest straps onto the back of the mirror... all so the mirror can't fly forward freely in an accident. I've not seen anything better on other mirrors I looked at in BRU.) <

>I can say that if this mirror wasn't attached so securely in my car, I too wouldn't use it as (like others have mentioned) it would be a huge liability to your child's safety in an auto accident. <
> <
>Other Pros: <
>- In some regards, the size of the mirror is a bonus because it is so easy to see your whole child in his/her carseat. Plus, the size allows your child to see you better (this has been a HUGE plus for my son who really needed to see me -- even the back of me -- as he was getting use to being in the car). <
>- The mirror is easy to clean (doesn't scratch the way other auto mirrors do -- see my review of the Baby In Sight mirror). <
>- The light show and music can be an attention grabber for a cranky infant. (But, to be honest... we've only had this work once or twice as our son really isn't that interested in the toy aspect of the mirror -- he prefers a stuffed animal in his lap.) <
>- The remote control that comes with the unit is super handy for turning the light and/or music off and on (but know that the switch to play either lights, music, or lights & music is on the mirror itself and must be set ahead of time... the remote is *just* an on/off switch). <
>- For those using the music feature of this mirror... you'll be happy to know that there *is* volume control!! Whoo hooo! :) <
> <
>Cons: <
>- The size can be a negative because it does obstruct the view out my back window quite a bit. (I have found ways to get around the blindspot that the mirror creates by over-cautiously using my side mirrors & side windows when passing, merging, etc. but then again... in my wagon visibility is generally pretty easy. In some cars, the blindspot this mirror creates could be too dangerous.) <
>- As any kids' toy that toots, whistles, sings, etc., this one requires batteries. If your kid really uses/needs the light show and/or music of this mirror... keep some extra batteries (and a screwdriver!) handy in your glovebox!! <

>Hope that helps!
Had to return twice!
I am 9 months pregnant and saw this mirror at toys r us and fell in love with it. When i went home to put batteries in it the mirror would not activate so i figured i had to use the remote to activate it. But when i tried to put batteries in the remote the top screw would not unscrew. It turned in a circle 100 times and did nothing. I thought perhaps i got a defective one so i exchanged it at toys r us and to my dissatisfaction, when i returned home with what i thought was a new mirror, i opened the box and the remotes screws were completely stripped. Someone must have has the same "defective" problem as i, and toys r us just put it right back on the shelf! I'm dissapointed because i generally trust fisher prices products, and now will think twice before buying anything without opening the box first.
WORTH THE MONEY AND PEACE OF MIND
Ok. well I gave this toy 3 stars overall. It would be 5 stars but the mirror quit working all together after about 2 months from the first time I used it. Maybe I got a faulty one cause it doesn't look like that is a recurring problem. That is the only negative side to this mirror for me.
<
>some may see this as big but that feature was minor for me because I had toys attached to the baby's carrier to entertain him.
<
>The mirror fit my car perfectly and the remote fit my visor perfectly. (I have a dodge stratus.) I recommend getting this toy or at least something similar, simple because the peace of mind of being able to see my little baby was worth its weight in gold. When the baby was 1 month old I had to drive by myself and being able to see how my little boy was doing was very important to me.
