Customer Reviews of Final Fantasy XII
Only Reason I Kept My PS2 Awesome. That one word sums up this game. <

>I played the demo that came wtih Dragon Quest and didn't really like the battle system but now that I've actually played the game it is amazing. The battle system FFXII uses is the future of RPGs-- it incporporates real-time aspects and a turn-based foundation and it is incredibly smooth. I'm personally a turn-based supporter and I really love this new sysyem, it just works. <

>The graphics are great for a PS2 game. I'm a recent convert to the XBox 360, despite being a Sony fanboy for X years. I'm looking down on the PS3 because of the lack of decent games thus far (look at IGN and all of the reviews for what's been released, everything has been getting really low scores), not to mention the money issue. The only reason I kept my PS2 was for this game. <

>Now if only Microsoft could work out a contract with Square Enix and get FF for the 360.... Heaven, my friends. Heaven. <

>Anywho, the game is great, I highly recommend it. The storyline is awesome and isn't another "person A falls in love with person B" or "save the world by stopping the giant monster." Instead the story is far more localized and therefore feels more personal-- destroy the oppressive empire. <

>Great game, get it. After you beat it, trade in your PS2 and make the step to next-gen.
Final Fantasy 12
Two years before the true start of our story, Dalmasca is at the peak of it's civilization. The Princess has just been married and the people couldn't be happier, until that is, the Dalmascan empire is invaded by a neighboring country reffered to as "The Empire". The new prince has just been killed in battle, the King has been assassinated by one of his own men, and the princess has taken her own life in light of these tragic events.

<
>Two years later, Dalmasca has been completely uprooted. Lord Vayne has just been appointed by The Empire to rule Dalmasca, and with it, all of it's riches. Our hero, Vaan, takes upon himself the duty of "liberating" these said riches. This, of course, ends up with him landing in prison along with a few other unlikely heros including a sharp-witted, silver-tounged pirate, a Viera weapons expert, the mysterious female leader of the Dalmascan resistance, and an "excuted" former military captain deemed traitor to his country, whom is met a bit later.

>Thus begins our strange and intricate story.

>The game has been thus far extremely engaging, with new methods of battle, several new little mini tasks which include charge gauges, and exceedingly wonderful cut-scene graphics (though in-game graphics do lack a bit).

>The new methods of battle requires a bit of effort and planning, but it doesn't go unrewarded. every time you kill an enemy you gain exp, license points (you now require licenses to wield certain weapons, wear certain armor, do certain skills, etc. not unlike FF10), and the occaisonal "Loot". Loot may be sold, sometimes for amazing prices, to local shop vendors, because it has absolutely no value to you other than when being sold. This can end up in thousands of gil, which is usually much-needed. Another fun addition to the money/shop system is the Bazaar. Here you may buy an assortmant of items in bulk, for much less, and the variety of items grows as you sell more to the shop keepers.

>All-in-all, I think this is my favorite FF yet. I can hardly stop playing long enough to tell you how amazing it is. I hope this review helped you in some way, because all I can say is that it is DEFINATELY worth your money.
Great battle system, the worst maps ever!!!
The battle system is great, graphics is the best I've seen on PS2, good story but why did they have to make maps that are the most annoying ever on any FF game?! I've always hated RPGs with stupid mazes and useless maps where you have to try to survive for at least 5 hours before you can find a save point!!! Sure these crazy dungeons are optional but what the heck is the point of making them so hard to navigate, then finding out later you cannot battle that stupid thing sleeping in there because you have to beat something else first. Don't tell me about walkthroughs...if I wanted to read a book I wouldn't have purchased this game and bought that walkthrough instead. Of all the FF games I've played, this is the only one which has succesfully made me doze off while holding my controller.
