Customer Reviews of Factory-Reconditioned Cuisinart CWC900FR Private Reserve wine cellar, brushed stainless
Got whine instead of wine! Won't try this again! After ordering one for myself and one for my mother in Texas, I can say that these not worth anything. The units would never get as cool as we wanted (Sauvignon Blanc lukewarm?) and had wild swings in temp. The manual override just would not work and my mother's unit had a different booklet than mine that said to keep it in a room that never gets over 70 degrees. Not wanting to go to the basement every time I would like a glass of wine, I rang Cuisinart and after 2 hours on hold was told that as a California resident I could take my unit to any retailer that sells the units and exchange it for a new one. My mother was not so lucky as California is the only one with that law and she had to request an RMA, pay return shipping and pay them an additional $10 to send her another. (the retailer that we went to was not happy about this law and called security on us but that is another story...so I do not suggest that as a method of getting a working unit) So now I have a brand new unit that is doing almost the same exact thing. Less temp swings but it picks the temp and has a sporadic display lamp. Also- it only holds 9 bottles- not 11 as was described here or on the box. I guess that if I take out the racks I could squeeze in 11 but then you know you would want a glass from that bottle on the bottom and, well...you see where I am going here.
Wouldn't buy it again
Okay, it was cheap, but I was disappointed with this reconditioned unit. The description didn't say anything about damage, and mine came with 2 deep scratches across the glass door and lots of smaller scratches on the sides. Not really suitable for display on the kitchen counter like it is intended.

>As far as operation, I had to put it in the basement because it couldn't keep white wines cool enough to drink in my kitchen. In my unfinished basement, it chills to about 50 degrees, which is about right for me. Not very convenient!

>I'm not sure if I am going to bother to keep using it.
Doesn't Work Well
I received the unit around 2 weeks ago. I was on vacation for 1 week and when I came back the interior dind't feel all that cool. I placed a thermometer (cooking thermometer) inside 2 days ago. The interior temparature (afte 24 hours was 65), temperature of unit read 56 degrees. I turned it down as low as it will go. The LED's say 50 but the interior temparature is 61 degrees, 24 hours later.

>I am not satisfied. I will let it run another 2 days and if it doesn't chill to the desired temparature, I will return it.
