Customer Reviews of Eye of the Tiger
Childhood Memories After watching Rocky III as a kid and hearing "Eye of the Tiger", this album was an obvious must-have, like so many other people back then. My tastes have changed greatly since that time, and my vinyl has long since bit the dust. However I managed to find a used CD copy for $2.00, and thought "Hey, why not?" <

>The album is still decently enjoyable after not hearing it for 17 years; the production is surprisingly clear, even for the "corporate rock" scene 1982. The album sounds best while driving in one's car, especially at night on a lonely highway. <

>However, the album is very...ummm...dated, as it reeks of early '80s corporate rock cheese. Not only that, but in retrospect, I never really realized what an obvious Journey rip-off this band is; the singer struggles to do his best Steve Perry impression, and the guitar/keyboard riffs and fills are damn near identical to Neil and Jonathan. The main difference is that Survivor didn't feel the need to make half of their albums ballads, which I commend them for. <

>But really, don't let my complaints deter you; if you enjoy late '70s and early '80s corporate rock and you're a fan of Journey, Boston, Styx, or the poppier side of Kansas, don't hesitate to snap this up.

This CD is great. The title song is the first one. I had never heard the other songs before, but they are all great.
good music
I first heard the song eye of the tiger in the early 90's when it appeared in a commercial for kellog's frosted flakes and when I realized years later it was an actual song by a group I downloaded it and found out about this early 80's band that were ahead of its time musically.
