Customer Reviews of Extramarital
a great B-movie with a fine A-story Being carried away by its horror & suspense, you may regret Extramarital is only played by B-actors & -actresses. However, this movie deserves a much more positive attitude: Traci Lords excels throughout, and is strongly supported by her three male co-actors. The four of them make 'Extramarital' keep you on the edge of your seat, from start to finish. Its flavor reminds me of Paul Verhoeven's great 'Basic instinct' (1992, with Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone).
Well...
You know, with a little more work, this could've been a pretty good thriller. Watch it and you'll see what I mean--all the pieces are there, they just don't get used quite right. It's like watching the rough draft of a better movie. Traci Lords, meanwhile--you get the sense she could carry her weight in a better movie. If you're a big fan of her recent career, go ahead and spring for this dvd.
A really nice flick!
Traci Lords has long remained one of my favorite screen stars: Here she proves herself the actress that she is! She should be a recognized star, and in this not-bad movie I really got involved in the film by her very good acting. Traci is regrettably carrying the show in this film; it's really a very sexy movie and not uninteresting, but suffers from some low-budget problems. I felt that the direction was competent but unexciting. Despite that and some logistical issues, I found myself very involved and sympathetic to the life of the most beautiful woman chained into an unfufilling relationship that had lost its passion. The part of the plot that I felt the most strongly about was not the "murder mystery", but rather the conflict between the lead role's ambitions and intelligence and the domestic blandness imposed on her by a marriage gone sour. Traci must be very smart and has always been successful: Her album "1,000 Fires" did great and songs from it appeared in many films; she's a fine and often overlooked actress of the silver screen. She was wonderful in "Profiler" and is now involved in a new Sci-Fi series, "The First Wave". I hope that she is recognized for her dedication. I'm pleased to see that she is finally getting more interesting material. In this movie, she steals the show.
