Build on Babys Milestones
In addition to being a source of exercise and almost endless amusement, the Johnny Jump Up also contributes to the development of several important milestones.
Gross Motor Skills
The legs are pumping, the arms are waving, the head is bobbing
baby doesnt know it, but hes working on his gross motor skills. Figuring out how to use those large muscles, then practicing and building their strength, is a key step in babys development. Next thing you know, hell be running and jumping and throwing balls!
Cause and Effect
"Hey, when I push down on the floor, I bounce! Lets see what happens when I push this way
or that
?" Okay, the Johnny Jump Up wont get your kid speaking full sentences, or even his first word (unless its "Wheee!"), but this is the gist of his thought patterns once he settles into the seat. Cause and effect is a nifty concept that your child will experiment with for the rest of his life, from dropping food off the high chair tray (gravity!) to seeing what happens when he grabs a toy from his friend (she doesnt like that!) to discovering whether his parents really mean it when they say his high school curfew is 10:00 p.m. (oops! They do.).
Balance and Coordination
Being upright must feel strange at first to someone who has spent the first few months of life lying in someones arms or in a crib. Its going to take some work to figure out how to keep upright (although the Johnny Jump Up wont let him flop over, of course) and going in the direction he wants to go. Hes going to have to find the floor with his toes, push away, then find it again and again, all the while keeping his torso strong. Whether the Johnny Jump Up is springing up and down or front to back or side to side, baby will go along with it, keeping his balance all the while.
Easy to Install
After assembling the seat and attaching the toy loops, pull open the clamp arms and hook them over any doorway trim that meets the size requirements (wall thickness must be 3 to 6 inches, and the flat surface on top of molding must be at least ½ inchand firmly attached. Do take these measurements seriously!). Slide baby into the padded seat, and watch his face light up as he discovers he has the power to make this thing move!
Important Note to Parents
Please dont let baby spin, swing, or sleep in the Johnny Jump Up, and read the instructions and warnings very carefully before using. --Emilie Coulter

Customer Reviews of Evenflo Classic Johnny Jump Up® Bug
Nice, but hard to get the baby in and out of it This is a classic product, with a few restrictions. Our baby loves it when she is in it, but getting her in and out of it is a bit of a challenge. Other than that, it is a great product for child development.
New mom of five month old baby
This product is well made and a value for the cost. But the bucket seat is huge. I baught this for my daughter who was four months old at the time and weighed almost sixteen pounds and 25 inches. Her legs were spread wide making it difficult to jump, and her body slipped from one side of the seat to the other. I tried stuffing a blanket around her to keep in the middle, but she was never able to enjoy it. I since purchased a much smaller jumper that she enjoys now. I kept this jumper because I do like it and think she will enjoy it at about 8 to 10 months when she is a bigger baby, if she's not already walking by then.
baby loves it
This is not the most attractive thing, but the baby just loves it! Be sure to put a little rug underneath to catch all the baby drool. It's a little hard to put up and take down for short people who have to stand on tippy toe on on a chair to get good leverage to open the excellent spring attachment above the door.
