Customer Reviews of Eurotrip (Unrated Widescreen Edition)
Decent movie with funny parts I watched this movie for the first time a couple days ago and overall I enjoyed this movie. But some people need to realize that this movie is a COMEDY and is not intended to offend anyone.
The plot of this movie is pretty simple (and a tad bit cheezy at the same time). Scotty (Scott Mechlowicz) has just graduated from high school, and following the ceremony he is dumped by his girlfriend, Fiona (Kristin Kreuk). Meanwhile, Scotty also has a German pen pal named Mieke (Jessica Boehrs making her American debut), who had helped him with his German while in high school. Scotty thinks Mieke is a guy's name, and "he" is a gay guy who wants to come to America to meet him. But it is not until after he tells this person off that he finds out that Mieke is actually an amazingly hot blonde who has been "saving herself" just for him. So he gathers up his best friends Cooper Harris (Jacob Pitts), Jaime (Travis Wester), and Jenny (Michelle Trachtenberg, formerly in Harriet the Spy and Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and they all venture off to Europe with their own goals they want to accomplish. Scotty wants to find his true love, Mieke, Cooper wants to get some "European Sex," and Jenny and Jaime (who are twins, by the way) want to explore Europe to its fullest. They make several stops, including London, Paris, Amsterdam, Bratislava, and Berlin. Along the way, they get into lots of misadventures, such as meeting the Manchester United fan club, being stalked by a gay Italian on a train, going to a nude bench with 200 naked men (the movie could have definitely gone without this), Scotty "becoming the Pope," and much more. Most of the movie is pretty predictable. Scotty finds Mieke and they declare their love for eachother, (...).
The unrated version is essentially the same as the regular version, but it just has some extra features to go along with the movie. It also has an alternate ending, where Scotty finds Mieke and she rejects him. Also, there are some funny cameo appearances from Matt Damon, Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess), and more. So with all things considered, if you liked movies such as Old School and the American Pie series, you will enjoy Eurotrip.
Possibly The Funniest Movie Ever!
If you are under the age of 30, or at least young at heart, and have always loved movies like European Vacation and Airplane you will enjoy this movie!
I have seen it two times since the release. The simple plot is made up for in big laughs. The movie has smooth transitions and has many small but very memorable characters. For example, the very strange and peverted Italian man on the train is something I don't think will ever forget. "Mi scusi!"
Eurotrip, which appears to be disillusioned with how juvenile and teasing American notions of sex can be, celebrates its R-rating like a kid on his 21st birthday. It ups the physical-contact ante enough for you to forget that some of its writers are the nincompoops who loaded "The Cat in the Hat" with sex jokes.
A great advantage of this movie is that it introduces some new but really great actors. I see Scott Mechlowicz doing great roles in the future. Also, the Matt Damon cameo was interesting... I didn't even spot him the first time.
I don't wish to seem melodramatic, but Eurotrip is the most hilarious film I have ever seen. I only wish I could reserve a copy on Amazon right now!
The movie could've lived without the molesting Italian, and it would've been stronger with more than one fully developed female character. It even offers scores of male frontal nudes in a beach scene that turns into a riff on zombie movies. It's in keeping with the movie's cheerful homophobia and its sunny misogyny. Still, Eurotrip is sort of admirable: Unlike its peers, it's tired of talking about sex and is ready to have some.
keeps ya laughing
i seen this movie on dvd, and wish i had seen it in the theatre,
everything that may go wrong, does go wrong and the hilarious mishaps..keeps ya laughin , with adult humour.
