Good headphones, worth the money
I bought these black er6i in-ear phones to replace a set of white er6i phone that broke. Here's my comparison between the two: Other than color, the two major differences between the earphones are the flexibility of the wires and the jack. <
> The white ones seemed to have stiffer wires. The black model's wires seem more pliant. I think I like the black models wire better... The other difference is the jack. The black model had a right angle jack while the white model had a straight jack. This straight jack on the white model is what led me to replace them with the black model. The connection where the wire enters the boot on the jack had become strained and loose due to my tendency to wrap the headphone wire around the ipod when not in use (c'mon, you know you do it too. The carrying case is nice, but a little impractical) Wrapping the wire on the white model necessitates having the wire exit the plug and make a 180 degree turn. Not good for the connection. As a result, after 2 or 3 years of doing this, the right audio channel cuts in and out depending on it you're putting pressure on the wire near the plug in the correct fashion or not. The black model has a 90 degree style plug, so I do not expect this to be a problem again. <
> Also, the 3 prong eartips are too darn long. They scrape my brain. I cut off the last tip to make them two prong and they feel much better.

Great product for the price
The headphones are very clear. It definitely took a while for the ear phones to break in because there would be staticky noises and bit baffling of the sounds. It sounds great now and very clear. Bass is a bit weak but i guess these earphones were made for clarity. For bass, try out BOSE earphones.

cables.... torn apart.....
After my Sennheiser CX300 broke after 2 years of use, I thought of upgrading to these higher quality headphones. I used the ER6i for 3 months and the cables just tore snapped. It was like...????!!!! I had used a cheaper headphones for 2 years and this ER6i only survived for 3 months? <
>The overall build quality of the ER6i is pretty good, minus the cable. The cable is extensively long, its so longs that you can drop your mp3 player on the floor and be uninterrupted in your music playback. It was a pain wrapping this 100ft cable around my mp3 player. <

>Enough about the cables, now to the real stuff... the sound is by far one of the best I have ever heard. Its very precise in reproducing the clarity of the songs. Real crisp highs to the middle. The bass was a little short of being fully flat. I listen to all kinds of music, and this was the most ideal for Jazz, Classical, and Podcasts.... but if you wanna listen to your top 40 stuff like Rap, House, RnB, you will miss the bass you usually are used to hear. The ER6i will give you an accurate 80% range of reproduction. <

>The ER6i will take some time to get used to ... for me it took a week or so. There are many choices of what actually is going to go inside your ear, they have silicone rubber caps which look like little projectiles and they have foam... like the ones you use in the shooting range. The silicone caps were very intrusive... but they captured more sound compared the foam ones. The foam was fairly comfortable and I started using this the third week onwards. The foam gets dirty faster since its lighter in color and if your headphones fall to the ground... dirt tends to stick very easily. Since both are In ear monitors ... they penetrate so deep into your ear that it will force you to improve your ear hygiene. <

>I usually goto sleep listening to my mp3 player and I did not have too good of time with these headphones. When turned to your side... you could hear the boxy part of the headphones rub across your pillow and it was this kind of squeaky sound which was very annoying. <
