Customer Reviews of Enjoy the Ride
Great album Even though a lot of people dismissed A*Teens as just a flash in the pan, they went on to sell over 9 million records worldwide, and some of their singles went Top 10 in several European countries. When their first record of Abba covers came out, I did not like them much, but their next albums of original material were catchy and fun. Marie Serneholt's album does not disappoint. First single "That's The Way My Heart Goes" is bubblegum pop at its best, and so is the groovy "I Need A House." Other highlights include the title track, "The Boy I Used To Know" and "Wasted Love." The sultry "I Love To Make Love In The Morning" sounds like culled off from Emma Bunton's gem "Free Me." A great CD overall!!
A-Teens Are Gone But Their Music Lives On!
Even though it was official that the A*Teens have made their permanent split in 2005, that infectious beat that we have all fell in love with back in 1999 with the Abba Generation makes its way back in our hearts in 2006. After Dhani's abrupt departure from the music scene after his hit single "Girl Talk," Marie Serneholt has decided to command the stage once more with her irresistible debut, "Enjoy the Ride."

>While some may think that the title of the record is a request, the songs are far from making this album an understatement. Leading off the album is the infectious "Enjoy the Ride," as Marie demands listeners "work with the beat." The versus are kinda slow, but when the chorus takes charge, it is musical bliss. "Wasted Love," follows the indie kind of beats which makes Marie sound more like Abba then the A-Teens. Third from the album is her debut single, "That's the Way That My Heart Goes," which peaked at No. 2 in Sweden. Taking a cue from Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Outta My Head," once the song begins with it's dumdadumdumdeedeedee it's hard to stop listening. The man voice in the background after the choruses is something reminiscent of the A-Teens work, which makes the song more appreciated. Throwing back to the 80's is "I Need A House," Marie's bubbly rock tinged single that has currently peaked at the Top 40 in Sweden. What really makes this song is the lyrics, ("I need a room to sleep in, I need a coffee and a kitchen sink,") Lyrically, the song sounds silly, but Marie's vocals blend perfectly with the guitars and euro bobs and beeps. "Beyond Tonight," is the first ballad off the album and is very laid back, which kind of throws off the album. Nonetheless, it's a very good song with some interesting lyrics, ("This ain't no one man show, no solitary game.") The lyrics sound more mature for Marie coming from songs like "Oh...Oh Yeah from the A-Teens 'Pop Til You Drop' album. "I Love Making Love In The Morning," is my favorite song on the album because it feels like Marie let's her hair hang down. Some argue that this song sounds provocative but she gets away with it. The lyrics gently scratch the service of being provocative like "I love making love in the morning, your breath against my skin," the beats are playful and Marie sounds like she is really having fun with this upbeat pop number. "Boy I Used To Know," brings Marie full force into the pop scene of *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys. The songs has sort of a dark beat and the chorus once again features a male voice which makes this again sound like a perfect A-Teen's song. It would be awesome if all four of them could get together to sing this song. Every album has a weak, filler song and to me it's "Calling All Detectives." The lyrics are definately clever, ("Calling all detectives, calling CSI...evidence never lies,") but the way that it is spoken and not sung during the song ruins its momentum. "Can't Be Loved," is another soft ballad but it is not a strong as "Oxygen," which is simply Marie's best effort vocally. From the whimpsical oh's during the chorus to its lyrics ("I get so high up here, I can hardly breathe, I need oxygen,") this song is soothing and the perfect way to end an album.

>It's a shame that the album overall only peaked at No. 9 in Sweden and quickly fell of the charts. It is definately a strong debut with a few minor drawbacks. The album is short of songs, only rounding off at 10. Secondly, Marie has blossomed into an extremely gifted song writer, yet her talents were not contributed to this album. After co-writing the latin infectious song "Cross My Heart," and the tender acoustic ballad, "In The Blink of An Eye," it would have been interesting to see what she could have written here. Oh well, I guess why there are sophomore albums, right?
Marie hits gold!
Marie Sernebolt made her start 5 years ago in the world wide hit makers The A*teens...Now broken up, she is striking out on her own with her first solo release "Enjoy the Ride". The album, while not being daring or contriversal like so many other pop stars out there, is wonderfully put together and a joy to listen to.

>All in all the album is worth the import price...A*teens fans will love it as most of the songs are very much like their work. At 10 tracks the cd is kind of short, I am hopeful that Marie will rerelease the CD with more tracks later and hopefully in the States!! If you love a cd that u can just pop in and enjoy singing to while makin your day a little happier, then "Enjoy the Ride" is one of the best pop albums of 2006, cant wait to hear more from Marie!!
