Amazon.com's Significant Seven
Janet Evanovich kindly agreed to take the life quiz we like to give to all our authors: the Amazon.com Significant Seven.
Q: What book has had the most significant impact on your life?
A: Uncle Scrooge adventures by Carl Barks. They gave me a lifelong love of the adventure story both in film and literature. And I wouldn't mind pushing my quarters around with a bulldozer in real life, either.
Q: You are stranded on a desert island with only one book, one CD, and one DVD--what are they?
A: Book: The Neiman Marcus holiday catalog (I can pretend I'm shopping.)
CD: MTVs Grind, Volume 1 (Happy music and I love the samba.)
DVD: Shrek 2 (Happy movie.)
Q: What is the worst lie you've ever told?
A: "No. Your butt doesn't look big in those pants." Said to myself.
Q: Describe the perfect writing environment.
A: No phone. Locked door. Room service. Silence. My cat (Gus) on my lap.
Q: If you could write your own epitaph, what would it say?
A: "Later, Dudes!"
Q: Who is the one person living or dead that you would like to have dinner with?
A: Jim Henson (creator of the Muppets)
Q: If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
A: The ability to eat Cheez Doodles and Krispy Kremes and never get fat.

Customer Reviews of Eleven on Top (A Stephanie Plum Novel)
Laughed So Hard It Hurt! I adore Janet Evanovich! Her books get better all the time."Eleven on Top" was absolutely hysterical. I laughed and laughed and then laughed some more. Lula tries to be a bounty hunter and Grandma Mazur gets into a fist fight with Morelli's Grandma Bella. And those are just two of the highlights from this novel. <

>I know a few readers said they found this novel to be "over the top" and I say so what if it is? I didn't find it to be, but this is a fun series with a little over-the-top action now and again. It is terrific fun to read the books in this series and they read SO quickly. If you are looking for something totally engaging and very funny, check out the Stephanie Plum series.
Couldn't read through my tears
This book was so laugh-out-loud funny I literally could not see the words through my tears. Start with One for the Money and read them all. The only parts I did not like were Stephanie lying about the cello and not being able to tell Joe she loved him. When (if?) she choses between Morelli and Ranger, I will feel bad for the one she doesn't pick. Maybe Ranger's secret will help everything work out. This is vintage Plum. Bring on #12.
Jumped the shark with this book...
...or is that expression only allowed for use with TV programs? Well, unfortunately, it happens to be true, and next summer I won't be waiting to read book 12.

>I've read some reviews that say, basically, 'Lighten up! It's only a beach book!' Well, I might be buying a 'beach book', but I still want to buy a GOOD beach book, one that keeps me entertained and excited. EOT does neither.

>The Stephanie Plum series used to be a good series. It wouldn't have made it to 11 books with a huge fanbase if it wasn't. We fell in love with the characters, the crazy humor, the insane situations, the sexual tension. Everything came together perfectly, and they were an excellent read.

>Starting a couple books ago in the series, things began a downward spiral. Characters and situations started to become dull and predictable. Parts of the books were still good, but it was not a cohesive whole.

<
>Now, what we are left with in this book is dull and rote. The main characters are all one-note, the situations are eye-rollingly familiar, and the sexual tension between Steph/Morelli/Ranger is as exciting as fingernails across the chalkboard.

>And as for the humor? I laughed twice during the whole book.

>Steph used to be my hero. She was by no means a superwoman, but she persevered, she didn't back down, and she was able to laugh at herself and her mistakes. Now, I don't even like the character. She is whiny and self-centered, and her 'feelings' about the two male leads just make her seem cheap. She'll talk about how she is disappointed in herself for not being able to tell Joe she loves him even though she feels it, then two pages later in the book she's thinking about going to bed with Ranger.

>As for those two guys, they aren't even characters anymore, they are just accessories for Stephanie. They used to be cool, now they're pretty much emasculated.

>Nothing lasts forever, and my belief is this series has run its course. It was a great series, and I'm very grateful to Janet Evanovich for creating this amazing mix of characters that made many an enjoyable hour for me. I have enough love for the series that, when the last book is finally out, I'll be curious enough to look for spoilers on the web to see who Janet finally decided Stephanie should end up with.

>However, don't expect me to spend any more of my money on this series, after TBO and especially this book. I'd rather keep my fond memories of Steph and the gang then watch the characters I love slowly be destroyed with progressively worse books.
