Customer Reviews of Edge - Somerset England
Great Magazine This magazine is a treasure. The magazines from England do cost more however they are made better with style and quality. You can save some money depending on the currency rate by ordering this direct online from www.edge-online.co.uk. You can get a 1yr. subscription plus a free t-shirt for 62.02 pounds, which comes to about $109.00 US dollars at an exchange rate of 1.75. Truly a wonderful magazine for gamers.
Nothing comes close
EDGE is by far the best games magazine available. I had a subscription for 9 years until I left the UK and moved to the States. Since moving I have been looking for an equivelent magazine but so far nothing comes close. If you are a twenty-something or thirty-something gamer then this is worth the investment.
The EDGE staff are clearly well respected in the industry and it shows in the quality and depth of the interviews and features they run. EDGE also frequently runs features and suplements on getting jobs in the industry so its worth a look if you have any plans in that direction.
It DOES have a UK focus, so expect reviews on console games to come round twice - once for the inital release (Japan/US) and once again for the UK release to make sure the conversion to PAL and 50Hz didn't harm the game, but other than that I don't think there is anything that would should put off a US audience (save the price)
The best videogame magazine in the world!
Edge is akin to the old Next Generation magazine. It has thicker stock covers, fewer ads, better content. This is a magazine that takes gaming seriously. Play and others that supposedly cater to an older audience than EGM or GamePro are kids magazines by comparason.
The average age of its readership is 25, and it shows. Edge is extremely well-written, with well thought out reviews. For instance, they have only given four 10/10 scores in ten years. Mario 64, Zelda 64, Gran Turismo, and Halo. They write reviews that you can trust. They also have exstensive coverage of retro game collecting and playing in each issue.
Though, it is more costly than most subscriptions, it is really the only games magazine you will ever need, and once you sample it you will never want to go back to those lesser magazines.
If you are a serious gamer, this is the magazine for you. This is the one you deserve. Afterall, you have grown up, why haven't your gaming magazines done the same?
