Customer Reviews of Eddie Bauer Manchester 3-in-One Elite Car Seat with LATCH - Manchester Print
Don't Waste your Time!! We purchased this car seat after my son grew out of his infant carrier at 6 months. We wanted a 3-in-1 so that we wouldn't have to buy another seat. This is a horrible rear facing seat. After an hour and a half of trying to get this seat level which could not be done without using at least 6 to 8 inches of rolled up towels or two car seat levelers, we decided this car seat was not safe for rear facing. You should not have to put something under the front of the car seat in order for it to work. We took this car seat back and bought the Britax Marathon, it was worth the extra money, we were able to install it within 15 minutes and our son is so comfortable in it, and we did not have to put anything under the front for it to be angled correctly.
And another baby makes 3
We bought our first Cosco Eddie Bauer when my son outgrew his infant carrier at 3 months. We absolutely LOVE it! He is now almost four and has gone through all 3 stages of the seat and it still looks great and works great. When my daughter was born, we didn't even look at other seats.

>As for the space problems and LATCH problems I've seen posted here, we've had none. I fit two of these seats in the back of my VW Golf without effecting the front seating very much and I was still able to ride in the center back position between the two seats (although not with EXTREME comfort, but I fit). I find it soooooo much easier to install the seats using the LATCH system. With my son sitting forward it is no more than a minute to install. With my daughter rear facing, it still took less than five minutes to install. The trick is to read the directions thoroughly. With baby number 3 now on the way, we are going once again with the Cosco Eddie Bauer 3-in-1. We've had to upgrade from the Golf to a minivan though. I am able to have all three seats side by side using the LATCH without problems in the new Sienna. I've actually had other moms switch to this car seat after they've seen and used it in my car.

>The only real drawbacks I've seen after using these seats over the last 3 years is that the straps tend to twist, but not a huge deal. The "puzzle latch" as one posting stated can be annoying at first, but you get used to it pretty quickly as well. Grandma still hates trying to lock it though :) On my son's seat the LATCH is separate from the seat and easier to deal with than my daughters seat where it is actually attached to the base. When you go from rear facing to front facing it is tricky to keep the LATCH belt from twisting funny.

>I recommend this seat to people all the time because it is easy to install, looks nice, cleans up nice, and is easy to use.
Terrible Seat
My husband and I registered for this seat before our 1st baby boy was born. We got it at our baby shower and put it away for when he got bigger. We used and LOVED the Graco Infant Snugride that came with our stroller until he grew out of it at 8 months old. Then the fun started. We originally loved this seat because of the way it looked and the safety of it. We were so wrong!!! It was so difficult to install. We both are very educated and read the directions thoroughly, but we worked on getting this seat installed in our 2003 Ford Escape for hours! It didn't fit in the rear-facing position and we had to move the front seat up so far that a passenger could not sit in the front. The seat also did not recline enough for our son even with a pool noodle under the front of it! Every time he fell asleep our poor little guy's head was leaning forward and flopping all over the place! VERY UNSAFE! He was VERY uncomfortable and would cry often in the seat. It seems like it would be a great seat for an older baby, but Cosco should rethink their weight guidleines for this seat. It is NO GOOD for a young baby in the rear facing position! Thankfully Babies R Us took it back with no problem after we kept it stored for eight months. We returned it and got an Evenflo Triumph 5. My husband, son and I are all VERY happy with the new seat!
