Customer Reviews of Eddie Bauer 3 in 1 Car Seat with LATCH - Hilton
Well worth the wait! I've been waiting for a few months to purchase a new car seat for my 16 month old. I wanted a car seat with the new LATCH system that is safe and comfortable for my son. The Eddie Bauer Alpha Omega is very attractive and looks nice in my vehicle. The buckling system is unique, but not difficult to use. The harness covers are very comfortable just like the rest of the seat. My son loves the pillow. He is much happier taking rides in the car now. The Latch system is very easy to install and makes me feel more confident in the installation of the car seat. I am also happy that we are no longer putting the wear and tear on the seat belt. Perhaps my favorite feature of all, is the adjustability. It is so easy to adjust the height of the straps. You never have to rethread the harness...I love that!
Nice but not Infant Friendly
After our 4 month old had outgrown his infant car seat, we started looking at convertable seats that could be used longer. The Eddie Bauer 3 in 1 seemed to do the trick. We tried it out in the store, and he seemed to like it. Once we got it home and installed, it didn't look like a good fit. First, the enclosed video does not mention the "latch" or "tether" attachments. It is the old video for the Cosco Alpha Omega seat. The directions are not as clear as they could be but we were able to install the seat in the rear facing mode using the provided latch attachments. The second problem we found was the seat does not tilt far enough back. Our child's head wants to lean forward even when we have him buckled in the seat. This is an even bigger problem when he is asleep. At this point we hope he can live with it until he grows old enough to be forward facing. We suspect the seat will work better in the forward facing mode. Based on the Alpha Omega rating in Consumer Reports last year, I assume this seat is safe. However for the price, We expect more from a car seat. We were let down with this seat at least for the time being. IF YOU HAVE AN INFANT, DO NOT BUY THIS SEAT.
Wonderful, fowards or backwards
I bought this seat for my son when he was about 5 months old. Our car a that time was a compact and this seat fit fine (although the seat could not be pushed back all the way which was no problem). If you install and maintain this seat properly you will love it. There is no problem with sleeping heads bobbing forward if you install it at the correct angle. There is no problem with twisted straps if you untwist them if it does twist. Left untwisted it will become difficult to untwist later and will only continue to twist more. Directions were easy to follow. I have had no problems with this seat because I make sure I use it correctly for the safety of my child. When my son turmed one he was in the 95th percentile for height but 5th for weight. This seat allowed us to continue to face him backwards until his weight was high enough while still fitting his length. Now as a toddler this seat is still wonderful. I like the puzzle lock because he can't undo it. The latch system is great and easy to use. I have no trouble making it secure. You just put some weight down on the seat (Iuse my knee) and tighten the strap at the correct angle. If you pull it at the wrong angle in obviously won't tighten very well :) I would recommend this to anyone wanting a convertible seat, or who don't intend to tote an infant around in an infant seat everywhere. The price was much better than the European ones, and it works great.
