Customer Reviews of Eddie Bauer - Aluminum Travel System with LATCH - Metro
GREAT SYSTEM This travel system proved to be durable, simple to use and priced right. The car seat had a strong, safe harness and clicked into it's base and stroller quite easily, along with most shopping carts. Though my son grew out of it before 1 year it was bigger than any of the other carriers sold which he just would've outgrown sooner. As far as the weight, I carried my son in this (up and down stairs, thru stores, etc.) untill he was about 9 months and 25 pounds (and no, I'm not gargantuan,
I'm 5'5" and 105 pounds). It was far better than any of the carriers my friends purchased. Two of them went as far as to give away peregos and purchased this one. The stroller was easily manuverable. It's one hand accessable lock was convenient. The least desirable feature of this stroller was the recline/upright device, which is a simple squeeze latch and strap. Though easy to use the seat is never completely up right unless you fit the car seat bar behind the seat, which is very easy to do and should be noted as a possibility in the manual, as I concocted this myself. Since outgrowing the car seat my son uses the matching 3in1 carseat from the same company, which is equally as good a product, if not better. The stroller is still in perfect condition after much use and continues to be one smart buy. I feel bad for the children who's parents couldn't figure out and/or handle this simple, good product that comes with easy instructions including pictures!
The travel system fad...
As first time parents, a travel system seemed not only the current trend but a very logical purchase as well. So, we knew that was our top priority when registering. Before we even made it to the store my husband was begging for the metro Eddie Bauer travel system for the simple fact that it said Eddie Bauer on it somewhere or another and he would feel much more masculine pushing that than something that said Graco, Evenflo or another 'baby' brand. Knowing and trusting Eddie Bauer as a brand name, I reluctantly agreed, even though the car seat with my friend's borrowed baby in it seemed to weigh more than I did at 8 months pregnant!
At first, we were very impressed with our product.
Here are the pros we noticed right away:
-The stroller folded up without the tray dragging on the ground
-The car seat attached the stroller with a bar, eliminating the tipping that could occur with other brands
-The pattern was not at all ruffled or girly
-Stroller is very lightweight and easy to haul in and out of the trunk
-The shocks on this stroller are WONDERFUL
Then I began to feel like I needed to go to the chiropractor every time I carried my child in this car seat. The thing weighed a ton!
Soon after, the cons became apparent:
-The car seat was far heavier than it needed to be.
-My son outgrew this seat at 4 months, despite the 35lbs claim to fame
-The stroller, as all full-size strollers are, was very difficult to drag through the mall
-The five-point harness is very difficult to adjust on the stroller
-The parent tray pops off on a regular basis
-There is a strap to recline the stroller, and good luck getting back into a sitting position with the baby in it.
Soon, I had had enough. I wanted options, convenience and functionality. I went to BRU and bit the bullet and purchased a Peg Perego Pliko stroller. While a travel system seems like a wonderful invention, please know that even if you do decide to go with one you will need a lightweight stroller also'. this beast will not make it on many mall trips. And please, please, please realize that even though this car seat is capable of accommodating a child that is 35lbs and 35inches'. that child may have other ideas. Every single mom that I know has given up the infant seat by 7 or 8 months due to a baby simply wanting more room to move. Buy a lightweight seat!!! You use it too much to compromise on that!
Many +'s and -'s
This system has many issues. Yes it is much heavier than other similar systems but it holds the infant longer than others. It is very sturdy and has a large basket below. Although the carseat is way to hard to adjust once infant is buckled in. I never felt my son was secure in the seat. The handle for the carseat also snaps into place very hard and loud usually startling the baby. The canopy for both the stroller and seat are very poor and the adjustment for the stroller back support is also bad, not letting the child sit completly upright. Also the 5 point harness for the stroller is almost impossible to adjust
Overall id chose another system.
