Customer Reviews of Ed Gein (Sub)
It's true crime/history.. I've totally researched Ed Gein and everyone's stories r the same. the creators of this film did a superb job at telling this true story in a movie format. There are no fabrications, fleshing outs just strait up facts in the narrative. This film was also filmed with only the highest grade actors, film and direction.
Outstanding genuinely frightening movie
I watch horror movies by the scores. It's VERY RARE to find one that I have to sleep with the night light on at night because it frightened me that much. Ed Gein was one of those movies. In the beginning it shows an extremely harmless looking old man being escorted into a police car. TALK ABOUT A WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING! This sicko dug up graves and made lamps, plates, etc out of them. Ultimately butchered two women...also a most disturbing scene he's wearing the skin of one of his victims (or more) with breasts and genitalia. He made steaks out of their flesh, and even this "innocent" looking old man shared his spoils with the neighbors. These big fat neighbors really enjoyed their meat.

>By the way, I do not under any circumstance eat any red meat: It looks too human. YUCK!!!! This movie really reinforced my disgust with red meat.

>Well, it was incredibly chilling and I was SCARED because I watched it by myself, and I slept with the lights on. Now that's awesome. I was scared.

Ed and His dead Mother
Steve Railsback gives a compelling and complex performance as the notorious cannibal and necrophile, Ed Gein.

<
>The film is low key and very effective. I think where Mr Railsback's performance really shines is in showing the isolation and sadness inherent in the material. Ed Gein is not portrayed as a raving psychotic but his schizophrenia is shown to be powerful and crippling, coloring all of his perceptions and actions. This film also excels in showing how a serial killer is MADE thru yrs of emotional and physical abuse at the hands of his religious-fanatic mother.
<
>This is probably the most accurate representation of the sick, sad, lonely saga of Ed Gein.
