Customer Reviews of Dukes of Hazzard - The Complete Fifth Season
The Dukes' 5th Season. I was skeptical about Coy & Vance being in Season 5 of the Dukes; but I give them major credit for holding down the fort, with the original Duke Boys being absent (I don't understand why they didn't have Byron Cherry & Christopher Mayer express their feelings about being a part of the show on the DVD (Or even having a voiceover), but it is what it is). Rosco & Boss Hogg were at their absolute funniest (Same with Enos & Cletus), and their comedic antics really made up for the absence of Wopat & Schneider (as well as the stunts, there were a lot of those.). <

>The episodes I enjoyed the most, were "The New Dukes", "Dukes Strike It Rich", "Revenge Of Hughie Hogg", "Witness: Jesse Duke", "Daisy's Shotgun Wedding", "Big Brothers, Duke", "Coy Vs. Vance", "Treasure of Soggy Marsh", "Ding Dong: The Boss Is Dead". <

>I definitely recommend this DVD for all Dukes of Hazzard fans out there; I'm also happy that Warner Bros. decided to release this 5th season of Dukes on DVD, even though Wopat & Schneider weren't there for the majority of it. <

>I'm looking forward to the remaining seasons being released on DVD.
Why?
Another good season, and a MUST BUY recommendation, however, one is left wondering......WHY didnt WB do a featurette on Coy and Vance...or at least have them do an episode voice over? They arent the bad guys they have been made out to be....and watching these episodes shows that they got better over time.Actually, with the return of Bo and Luke, there was not the massive improvement you'd think there would be...so...that proves that Coy and Vance held their own fairly well...even though they relied on more General Lee stunts and Uncle Jesse/Daisy dialogue to shore up their "weakness".

>I think the facial expression of Christopher Mayer when Bo and Luke return says a lot...talk about not cracking a smile...he knew his big role was over, taken back by 2 guys who stiffed WB and their fans over some money.Waltzing back into Hazzard like nothing ever happened....greed will do strange things to people....I dont think Coy and Vance would have ever done anything of the kind (of course they didnt have the leverage Tom and John had),seems to me they were just glad to have the job.I think if Warner Bros had realized that,we would have had a Byron Cherry/Christopher Mayer appearance on the Season 5 DVD.
All The Seasons Rock, Even the Coy & Vance Season
It's the same show we love. The Dukes of Hazzard The Complete Fifth Season is now available on DVD. The set includes 22 episodes from the shows 1982-1983 season. Warner Bros. did a really great job on this set. The interior box is very colorful and includes a synopsis for each episode. In addition to the episode synopsis, the episode writer, director and original airdate is included.

>Daisy Duke, portrayed by actress Catherine Bach adorns the season five cover art solo. As pretty as she is, you may wonder where are Bo and Luke Duke. Well, they are featured in smaller pictures inside of the box. The real stars of season five were Coy and Vance Duke. The fifth season of Dukes of Hazzard is the season in which actors Tom Wopat and John Schneider left the show for a short amount of time. The would return to the show at season's end. Coy and Vance Duke were Duke cousins portrayed by actors Byron Cherry and Christopher Mayer.

>The absence of Bo and Luke Duke was briefly explained in the opening narration of season 5. Bo and Luke are seen in the General Lee driving away from Hazzard county to pursue their NASCAR career. Roscoe P. Coltrane is set on becoming law man of the year and Boss Hogg has a mining plan that will help him get rich. It's evident from this first episode that season 5 is a season worth watching despite the shows two leads being absent. One thing about this season that is rather puzzling is that Bo and Luke are seen leaving Hazzard County driving the General Lee, but then Coy and Vance are seen driving the General Lee. Bo and Luke return to Hazzard County for the last 4 episodes of the season.

>The Coy and Vance season has it's own following and it's really awesome that this season made it to DVD. Although, they weren't the same as the Bo and Luke, the show was still just as good.
