Customer Reviews of Dual XDVD270 2 X 7 Portable DVD Player, Comander + Companion, Case
Waste of money for product, no customer service We had ours for about 6 months and one of the screen quit playing; once we finally got ahold of customer service they don't us not to waste our money to fix it, it wasn't covered under warranty and it would be best just to buy a new one. Run quickly to a more reputable brand!!
WARNING: this DVD player causes perpetual whining!!!
If the other reviews on this page haven't scared you away already, read mine. This machine is really really irritating.

<
>1-No Case for all the wires and so on : MOMMY whining
<
>2-The above mentioned wires are very fragile and so when my son tripped over the connecting cord trying to exit the van, the DVD became unable to communicate with the secondary screen and I had to replace the entire cord system for $30plus shipping: DADDY whining
<
>3-The screens DO NOT FIT in the "hammocks" included. It's as if they were made for a different DVD player. The elastic at the bottom causes the screen to sag down into the leather so my kids couldn't see the bottom third of the screen. The hammock also would gap along the bottom edge which caused shadowing. You can't adjust the angle of the screen so viewing angle relies on the weight of the machine and the angle of the headrest it's attached to. If the car swerves or goes around a curve, the screen will move and your children will whine. KIDS whining, MOMMY whining, DADDY cursing
<
>4-The nature of the suspension system makes it very tricky, time consuming, and labor intensive to change DVD as the above reviews have stated. EVERYONE whining
<
>5-The cords don't lock in place, so when my 9 year old decided he could see better if he held the screen in his hands (he could) while the 5yr old and 4yr old used the hanging secondary screen, the connecting cord might just FALL OUT causing the secondary screen to go blue. THIS CAUSED BRUTAL WHINING
<
>6-The headphones were the same as the free ones from Jet Blue. They lasted about 2 trips before they fell apart. No one whined because the couldn't possibly fit a child's head anyway, even on the smallest setting.

>Please, I don't know you, but PLEASE don't waste money on this product. It's an evil machine. Today, just about a year after purchase, (and no, I haven't even used it in the van with the brand new cord system I bought to repair the tripped over cord) the macine was playing a DVD and suddenly stopped. The screen said, "NO DVD" even though only moments prior there was,and in fact, there still is a DVD inside the machine. I called the repair number on the back of the machine immediately. The guy I spoke to wasted no time at all telling me that this is likely a fatal problem. (wimper)

PROS:
<
>
<
>1. It comes with headphones and the picture quality isn't too bad.
<
>
<
>CONS:
<
>
<
>1. Does not come with a bag to store all the cords and monitors in.
<
>
<
>2. The straps on the monitors which hold it onto the seat/headrest were too small to go around the bucket seats. We discovered this about two hours before we were scheduled to hit the road. If your seats do not have adjustable headrests ,or in the case of bucket seats, do not get narrower at the top, the straps will not fit. I had to take the velcro straps off the old set we couldn't use any more (screen died) and use those. Additionally, the straps that come with this monitor set buckle, which in my opinion, isn't as good as a velcro strap which lays flatter.

<
>3. Every time you want to change the movie, you will need to pull the DVD player out of the holder on the back of the seat (doing so gently so that all the cords attached don't become entangled and don't fall out). Sorry, but this is one majorly huge PITA when you're hurtling down the highway. And I'm talking about the front seat passenger having to deal with movie changes, not the driver (forget it if you're traveling alone with your kids. You'll have to do movie changes at a rest stop or have kids old enough to do it themselves....provided they can reach the unit on the back of the seat from their buckled-in position.)

<
>4. The power button on the front was often bumped into whenever my child would move her knee, foot, leg, etc. Can you picture it now? NO MOVING FOR THE NEXT 10 HOURS LEST YOU TURN THE MOVIE OFF! The power button was bumped into about a half dozen times on our trip. For the record, we were traveling in a roomy 8 passenger Ford E-series van.

>5. We went from a 3-piece mobile DVD player to this one. Two pieces seemed like a great idea. Our last mobile DVD player the cords ran straight down the back of the seat and under the front seat and were out of sight, were not stepped on, pulled out, etc. They didn't get in the way. NOT THE CASE with the Dual DVD player - the cords run in between the units, which was a pain every time the kids had to get out of the car - they were trying to get around all the cords running along the back seat and inbetween the units.

<
>6. I didn't have the instruction manual with us, so who knows what I was doing wrong. One would think pressing the Power, Play, and Stop buttons on the unit would be somewhat intuitive - you know, they'd actually work? Good thing I thought to grab the remote control before we headed out the door on our trip, otherwise I'm not sure if the kids would've been able to view any movies! The Play button never worked - I always had to use the remote control. So I ask, what's the point of the buttons on the unit (other than the power button which seemed to work just fine for turning the unit OFF [but not On, lol])?

>7. I thought it was great that this set came with headphones. Unfortunately the headphones were very cheap - in their smallest setting, they were too big to fit on the heads of my 4 and 6.5 year olds. Wish I had a picture of my kids in the backseat - they looked like the "Hear No Evil" monkeys holding their head phones up. The headphones rarely stayed in the smallest settings either - not stiff so they would constantly open up to a larger setting. I'm not sure who the manufacturers think are buying this product, but let me tell them: It's families with kids! And generally speaking, kids have smaller heads than adults, so why were adult sized headphone included in this set?

>I hope the above convinces you to keep on looking. I curse the designer of this unit to a loooong road trip with young kids using this unit.
