With computer-animated cinematic sequences doing the lion's share of the storytelling, players must guide Tanner through more than 40 action-packed missions in four different city settings, this time on foot--which primarily allows Tanner to carjack other vehicles--as well as behind the wheel.
While it can be of a lot of fun to play, Driver 2 is no joy ride. The missions can be quite unforgiving and require many restarts to complete, and the cops are quite determined--even at the "Easy" setting. Also, the game's coarse, choppy 3-D graphics often get in the way of things, with slowdowns disrupting the game's pace, and buildings and such popping up out of nowhere. --Joe Hon

VERY DIFFICULT, HORRIBLE GRAPHICS Driver 2 was a good game when it came out. However, now that Playstation 2 and Grand Theft Auto 3 have been released, there is literally no reason to bother with this game. The graphics look bad, even for PS1. The frame rate is choppy, and the missions are so ridiculous that you will find yourself doing them over and over again. There are many annoying glitches as well, like falling through the street for no reason (game over), and cops that smash your car over or through walls and buildings, trapping your vehicle in them. Also, the vehicles seem to drive VERY SLOWLY on the streets. pedestrians run from your car to avoid being hit, and if your car does hit them, they pass through the vehicle as if through thin air.
I will give some credit to this game-- the "take a ride" feature allows you to drive freely through very realistic renderings of Chicago, Havana, Las Vegas and Rio. The cops, however, will chase you for no reason and smash your car until it is destroyed-- that is unless you can outrun them.
A cool game, except for crumpy graphics
Yes, Driver 2 is known as cool game and a bad graphic made game. I like the cities and all but, missions are too hard and images are like stupid. I would recommend Driver 1 and Driv3r because they are better at playing. The foot missions are kinda cool, but Atari/Infogrames, increase graphics when releasing Driv3r.
Awesome Game!
Driver 2 is a great game. It has good sound,, good control, and it's a lot of fun. I haven't played the first one so I don't know how much worse or better the second version is from the first version. The only problemm is that iit's graphics are a little off, but otherwise, it's a great game.
