Customer Reviews of DragonBall Z: Vegeta Saga 1 - Into the Wild ( Vol. 3 )
Great series, but the DVDs are a rip-off Dragonball Z series (aired 1989-1996, DVD releases 1999-present.) <
> <
>INTRODUCTION: <
>The Dragonball saga is one of the most successful anime series of all time, and it isn't hard to see why. With the series. Akira Toriyama created a worldwide phenomenon that shows no signs of letting down, long after its completion. The Z series, second in the Dragonball series (consisting of the original series, Z, and GT) is the most popular by far. The series has been released numerous times on numerous formats. In recent years, the series was redubbed and reissued on DVD. Home video releases have not been kind to the series in a number of ways. Is this time any different? Read on for my review. <

>OVERVIEW (PRODUCT): <
>Dragonball Z originally aired in Japan from 1989-1996, and the edited dubbed version aired in America from 1996-2003. These DVDs feature a new English language dub track, as well as the original Japanese subtitled track. Each disc features three episodes and retails for around twenty-five dollars. <
> <
>OVERVIEW (SERIES): <
>The Dragonball Z series was Akira Toriyama's sequel to his earlier Dragonball series. While the original series began as an adventure/comedy series, it gradually shifted more toward pure action. Dragonball Z picks up where the original series left off, continuing in the action-driven direction. Toei Animation did the anime based on the manga, and often added some subplots not vital to the story which were not featured in the original manga. The manga remains the definitive telling of Toriyama's story, but for the most part Toei handled the transition well. And definitive edition of the anime is the Japanese subtitled version. <

>REVIEW (SERIES): <
>Dragonball Z rules. Period. The series has a "love it or hate it" reputation, but when this series wins you over, it stays with you forever. With lots of interesting characters, technology, and some of the best fantasy Anime combat around, it's awesome. Just be sure you see it in all its uncensored Japanese subtitled glory. THAT is the way it was meant to be experienced. <

>REVIEW (DVD): <
>If such a great series, then why only three stars? Simple. THESE DVDS ARE A RIP-OFF! TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS for only THREE EPISODES!? Even with the dub and sub tracks, that's outrageous. Many TV shows offer then entire SEASON for the same price that FUNimation is asking for a measly three episodes. This is why I always have and always will endorse buying bootlegs. Until FUNimation can bring us Dragonball Z at a reasonable price, stick to getting bootleg DVD copies. <
> <
>OVERALL: <
>I LOVE this series. Always have, always will. But the outrageous price and the limited amount of episodes you get for that price is unforgivable. I strongly recommend the series, but if you want it uncensored on DVD, go with bootleg copies. There is no excuse for FUNimation charging for three episodes what some TV shows charge for their entire season. <

>EDITION NOTES: <
>These new DVDs are readily available in most major retailers of Anime DVDs. Sadly, the price doesn't really differ from retailer to retailer, meaning you're going to almost inevitably be ripped off. <

The start of Gohan's training! Goku's journey in Snake Way
This volumen starts where vol.2 left off at the start of Gohan's traning with Piccolo. His first excercise to survive alone in the wilderness for six months. Imagine a four-year-old kid with unlimited potential alone in the desert. Goku after been killed by Raditz begins his journey through Snake Way in order to train with King Kai or Kaioh. This is a excellent filler volumen except maybe the last episode which is pretty slow and got no impact on later episodes at all,not to mention having the crappiest dub ever!!!This line of dvds from funimation are worth all it's hype with the excellent audio tracks of japanese, spanish and english 2.0 and 5.1 tracks. I'm off until my next review !@!
The Beginning of Goku and Gohan's Training
Into the Wild. The title gives the three episodes away. In this DVD, Gohan continues his training from the last episode in the Piccolo's Plan DVD. Gohan is faced to live on his own and face his fears and conquer them. Piccolo does keep an eye on Gohan, but only at certain times. Gohan runs from a dinosaur and ends on top of a cliff. In other World, Goku is running along snake way and is hungry. Yajirobe tells Krillin that he has to gather Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaotzu to train with Korin. This is after Krillin fails to tell Chichi that Goku is dead and Piccolo took Gohan.
